Hi All, I'm the proud mama of a 2yr old pit mix named Dash. She's a goofy girl with a few challenges: 1. Leash reactive/mild dog aggression (mostly small dogs) 2. HIGH prey drive, kitties are a huge distraction on walks, and again, small dogs are a problem... 3. Early signs of hip dysplasia, she's on glucosamine and Rimadyl We got Dash about 2 months after we got her sister, a Catahoula mix. They're best friends and it's an absolute wonder that she has a problem with other dogs as she and her sis are inseperable. We're moving from San Diego to NYC in about a month, and although it's breaking our hearts, we have to re home the Catahoula because she needs at least an hour of high energy, long distance play/activity daily and we won't be able to give her that in the city. I'm super concerned about how Dash is going to react to losing her sister, and then moving to a big city. We've been working with a trainer on her leash reactivity, and she started us on a muzzle a few days ago. Dash doesn't fight the muzzle or try to take it off, but she WONT BUDGE once it's on... Will only walk wearing the muzzle if her sister comes with us, which again, is concerning because sissy isn't coming with us:( Any suggestions on any of this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Welcome to the forum! Dash is such a cutie! I recommend browsing through the Training & Behavior section of the forum for info and tips on training with the muzzle. My Lebowski has to wear a muzzle out in public because of his DA, and we've done lots of positive conditioning with him.
