Yah, I can't feed my dog raw. I think her glands aren't being released naturally because I just switched her food and she isn't getting used to it. Back to chicken soup for the dog lovers soul I guess.

Maverick seems to still be having issues with his stool/glands. I can't get his stools hard...tried pumpkin (fiber) with no luck.
I have since switched him to Natural Balance allergy formula Lamb and Brown Rice. It's just been a few days, but so far so good. The biggest issue is that it's more expensive than what I was buying and now the hubby is pitching a fit! But hey, I gotta get what works and if this works, that's what he'll be eating from now on.
Cross your fingers and paws!

Purple, have you ruled out any health issues that might make the problem chronic, or do you supect it's diet? My Rocky suffers from a nervous colon, for lack of a better term. His stools are always a bit soft, but in unfamiliar surroundings he gets the squirts. My vet and I have tried several things, but the one thing that's helped most is a Chinese herbal called 8 Gentlemen. Thankfully he doesn't have gland problems, though on occasion he does lick. He also suffers from a serious lack of coordination that's so severe that he cannot negotiate stairs, and can't be allowed to run freely in open areas because he will twist and turn spasmodically until he eventually tumbles or falls. The issue with his stools is most likely connected. Yah, he's a special needs dog. Probably has ADD, too. Good thing he's sturdy. But you'd love him if you met him. Dave

I haven't really went the medical route yet, as I wanted to rule out the "simple" stuff first, I thought diet would be the most easy to play trial and error with first.
If we don't get results with this, i'll be going the medical/testing route.
And yes, i'm sure I would love Rocky!! ;D
