Good idea the whip think tractor supply may carry that? lpyrbby you are just an expert at the long lead I tell ya. For some reason our leashes are all missing. I want to take Rocky down to the lake today but i cant find our long leashes. If I have time I will go buy one of those ropes. But I wish I had that expert long leash thing down.

TSC does have the lunge whips. I seriously considered it, but thought making my own for about the same price would last a little longer. It's the actual making it that throws up a road block for some. And the home made one certainly isn't as pretty lol!

PVC doesn't flex though - so there is actually less play.
Part of the fun for chasing is the length and range from a central point, and the flicking one can do - it' just a different feel and it carries the movement differently. I bet if you try one, you'll find there is a great amount of difference in how they handle.
Or not.
LOL
I wonder if the pvc/rope combo will last longer than a year?
I do know that having a 6 foot rod means I've never had the issue of getting wrapped in the line, it would take effort to get wrapped to a significant degree.
Only fall I took was when I was playing with it at night, wearing all black, with the light behind me, and Toby cut a straight line through the circle trying to cut the leather lure "off at the pass" and barreled straight into me full force and took me out. Lesson learned, LOL!

And they carry TOTW which so far my dogs seem to be doing well on bullyforus, I can see what you're talking about as far as a different feel with the lunge whip. I can definitely imagine the suppleness of the "toy." Even though the pvc doesn't flex as much, I'm still happy about the length and sturdiness of it. There's definitely several good options out there for flirt pole playtime.

Today went to pet store to get food and there I saw the flirt pole for dogs not for cats. It was about 15.00 and came with removable toy so you can put whatever you want. I did not buy it though want to check out the whips at tractor supply. Cause honestly i dont think Rocky will play with it. So the cheapest and easiest option good for me.

Cat toys are your best bet then! Superpetz has them 30inch wand with a 6 inch feather boa. The sizes might be off. They're all of 3.99 here and that's what I was using before

Cause honestly i dont think Rocky will play with it. So the cheapest and easiest option good for me. Flirtpoles are meant to be danced around - it triggers a prey response, and APBTs as we all know have a high prey drive. As long as the end is moving, it ought to elict *some* sort of response if your dog has even a moderate prey drive. Think of it as land fly fishing for dogs - you don't just throw out the line and sit and wait - you make the fly *dance* and *move* like real live prey, thus triggering a strike response. It's the same exact deal for dogs - you are flicking it around (not cracking it like a whip, but using the length and the springiness to make whatever you put on the cracker/popper to spin, and dance and leap and jig all over the place) like iit was some darting little critter. Or for a better analogy, you play with the flirtpole exactly like you would play with laser toys (if they weren't such horrid things to play with for dogs anyway) - keeping it just out of their reach, darting this way and that - only they have a chance at *"winning" and A"capturing" the flirtpole, so it is a more healthy game since they can manipulate it and win. Then it's a game of keep away - as long as you can. They do amazing moves to get that thing lol. Part of what makes the lunge soooo nice for this is how freaking long it is, and how well it lets you play out whatever you put on the end, and it's pretty durable. Just my 2 cents again lol

Well ebay usually has them for about 8 bucks and then 8 bucks shipping.
Sometimes cheaper - just be careful, and make sure you check the length cuz the shorter ones will be a few bucks cheaper, but you can find some good deals.
Anyway, just an option.
