I've offered extra insurance (seems they just take that offer as 'proof' that he is going to be a crazy dog to have, *sigh*). Commuting won't work because that would mean Chubs is alone longer during the day than I'd like (plus the bf's new job he gets out an hour earlier so if the commute requires a car then either we'd have to get two cars or he would have to wait around, in tun making Chubs wait around longer). Plus if we are able to saty in Queens, then if something should happen I have lots of family that could come by and take care of Chubs (like if bf or I get stuck in the city).

Been through those too, lol. Craig's List, local neighborhood papers, city papers, every real estate agency we found while randomy walking through prospective neighborhoods, tons of websites, word of mouth, and even calling management companies for the buildings themselves to inquire. Its tiring! There is one very tiny place that is a real possibility, but the guy hasn't returned our calls over the weekend and I'm hoping he will very soon! Please people, put it out to the universe that this guy calls me back with good news!! lol

Yep, didn't really get me anywhere. Thx though. Most of the time its not even that Chubby is a pitbull, its that he is over 15lbs. Apparently thats the new weigh limit in most places that allow dogs. I have friends with cats that weigh more!

I wrote my potential landlord an email about my dogs & their accomplishments and how they are part of our family. She was so impressed, I never had a problem moving in with THREE pit bulls and my two small dogs. I wish more people knew the right way to go about it. I just used a little common sense, myself!

I have two letters of recomendation for Chubby (one from his rescue, one from his behaviorist), his neuter paperwork, his vet records indicating he is well taken care of and up to date on all shots, a copy of his clicker class basic manners graduation certificate and two lovely pictures of him (one dressed as a flower and one in a green sweater). Homework has been done.

It's absurd the cost to rent in NJ.... winds up being more expensive to rent a place than to buy a small place and build equity. And it's super hard to find a place that will take a Pit or bully breed dog or a dog that looks like a Pit. Sucks!

at the apt where i used to live the rent for a 1 bedroom is $725 but the area is bad and going downhill fast.
try craigslist for private owners renting their houses- i had more luck with that then apt complexes

also, think outside the box.. try a bit further away from work, sometimes by wanting to stay right near work you wont find anything, but go a little bit further (say 15 minutes) might open up a door to something better... also try the grocery stores- they normally have ads up in the entranceways (shoprite and a & p by me and weis all have ads up..) or try the little rent books that are found in the supermarkets too . by the homes books they have apts for rent books too
