Gustavo and I are thinking about dropping cable and signing up for Netflix. We rarely watch TV and we pay a lot for nothing. There is rarely anything to watch! We watch movies way more than we watch cable! We usually rent from the Red Box but as many of you probably know, they have a very limited selection! I have NO experience with Netflix and was wondering if someone could tell me the advantages and disadvantages. I was on their web site and everything seems great but I don’t want to sign up then realize that I wish I would have kept cable! I was also wondering if anyone knows if they carry episodes of Pit Bulls and Parolees? I am addicted!

Ken and I have netflix and we love it and USE it. I can't think of a single disadvantage except for the fact you can only have 3 movies/shows out at a time. Since you've gone through the website I am sure you're aware by now that there are also TV shows in addition to movies that can be rented. That's how I watch Lost and Californication. You'll find many of the shows and movies you are able to watch instantly which allows you to watch them on your computer. Ken has our computer set up to where you can switch the tv to VGA mode/aspect. When the tv is in VGA mode it shows exactly what is on the computer screen that it is connected with. Thus, allowing us to drag and drop the internet page over onto the tv screen, go to netflix, pick a tv show to watch instantly, hit "fullscreen" so it covers the whole tv screen, and ta da! We're watching Lost (or whatever) on tv as if it WAS actually on tv. I'm not sure how Ken set that up so we could do that, but I can ask for you. I do know it wasn't complicated at all. You or Gustavo may already know how to do that. As far as if Pit Bulls and Parolees is available I don't know, but just go to netflix and type it in and find out. If nothing comes up then obviously it's not available. We love netflix. There are so many options, tv shows, HBO series, movies, and so many of them you can watch instantly. It's great! Btw, if you have 15$ to spare just go ahead and try it for a month. They may even have a free trial period that you can do. That way you don't have to pay. Either way, it can't hurt to hang onto your cable and just try it out first for a month. If you like it, then keep it and cancel your cable. If you don't, then you're only out 15$. I think you'll like it though, and look into if they have a free trial period for new/aspiring customers.

Yes I just joined because Cable sucks same movies over and over. I joined late night new year eve (thurs) fri holiday on Sat movie in the mail box. I returned the movie this thurs to the mail at 5pm and the next morning I had an email that the movie was recieved and next movie shipped. The only thing is if you download movies you cant download the new ones. Only ones that aire currently playing on cable. But when you want to watch one of those oldies you dont get stuck with a late fee and you can watch over and over. I have not noticed any pit bull and parolees episodes available any where on the internet. So far I am happy I joined netflix

I searched Pit Bulls and Parolees, Netflix doesnt have it. Oh well, they have a TON of movies/shows for all of us to enjoy! They actually DO have a free trial right now so we are going to give it a try! I just wanted to make sure no one had any problems!

I am very happy with netflix. I mostly watch movies on my computer because you can do an unlimited amount of those and my computer is in my bedroom so it is convenient for me to watch them on it. The things I can't watch instantly I just get in the mail. I am sorta slow on that end of things but the amount of movies/shows I stream on the computer makes it worth it. No one in my house ever turns on the actual tv. I should really get rid of my cable.

I would still suggest trying it first before cancelling your cable to make sure it's for you. Who knows, for some strange reason you may not like it- Lol. I doubt that, but maybe just to be on the safe side? It's your call.

I think I would probably cancel my cable even if I wasn’t as much of a fan as everyone else. I’m sick of paying $60.00+ for commercials! No one even watches our TV. When we spend our free time indoors I am either on my computer, Gustavo is playing his PS3 (Yes, a grown man & his video games! I don’t think he'll ever "grow up" ) Or we are watching a movie together.

Yea, Gustavo is a video game nut! He has SERIOUSLY stayed up ALL NIGHT playing video games! He is crazy!
I’m not really into video games; I’m more of an outdoor gal! I prefer the outdoors over ANY thing indoors! Give me the option to watch Pit Bulls and Parolees or be outside with my dog, I would be outside in a heartbeat and that says A LOT! I love Pit Bulls and Parolees.
I’m sure I can find somewhere to watch it online.

Amy Jo, that is exactly what we did a few years ago. We have not had cable for about 4 years and have had Netflix for about the same time. We stream stuff on the computer and through the XBox so we can watch it on the big tv. I've never had any negative experiences. They're going to be adding to their instant streaming movies soon, too. They made a deal with Warner Bros that Netflix won't be able to rent out their DVDs until one month after Warner releases them. But the good part is that in return, Warner is allowing Netflix to instantly stream more new Warner movies.
Hulu has so many of the shows that I like, that I don't miss cable at all. I wish I could get Pit Bulls and Parolees, but I just watch it at a friend's house.
