I think you are making a good decision especially if you know you will be nervous about a stranger grooming him. He will sense your concern. But I know in my heart every thing is going to be all right. I dont know why but I sense this is a temporary problem. Something is brewing with him. Will make copies of that box game stuff and get it to you soon. Did you find the link on Guarding I think it is the Boomer's new self. I think it has been helpful to you before maybe good time to review it.

Yeppers. I sure did re-read that entire thread. Instead of babying Boomer like I was (Thinking something was wrong) Ive now been cracking down on him. This dog is really going to hate me! I thought I was practicing strong NILIF...Yea right. He has NOTHING now. Im half tempted to take his blanket out of his crate because he keeps trying to play with it because I took all his other toys away! LOL!!! Wont be long and he will be too tired to think, he will have a headache! This dog WILL learn! LOL! MUA AHH AHH (MY evil laugh!) LOL! ;D I love Boomer to much to give up on him! Hes my boy!

LOL! Oh Rocky! Sounds like my Boomer!!!! I took his blanket out, he didnt growl at me or act like anything but he is now giving me "the look". The "All I ever wanted to do is love you" look. Poor, poor Boomer...He has a rude of wakening! Lifes tough! If hes going to act like an ass, thats how he is going to be treated! Thanks for the links again Carol Ann! ;D

Amy Jo, how has Boomer been over the last few days? Are you seeing any changes? I feel so bad that he's going through this. He looks just like my Mom's Pit (except Boomer actually has a waist!)

He hasnt growled at us. He sure acts like an ass to strangers though. I dont trust him with others right now. He too pushy. I am seeing slow changes but like all things, its going to take time.
This is not normal APBT behavior is it?

I don't think so. Pits are not great guard dogs because they love people too much. All of mine love guests immediately, as soon as they step in the door. Could it be a fear aggression issue? I know some dogs who don't like people wearing baseball caps, or men, or even some dogs who don't like other races!

its also very possible he is just being a snot . if he was babied all his life he could just be pitching temper tantrums when he doesnt get his way.his growling could also just be vocalizing, my rott used to grumble, growl, make all sorts of noises as he was very vocal. if you scratched his ear a certain way he would growl the entire time but it wasnt a bad growl it was an ohmygodthatfeelsgood growl. with doing the NILIF strictly he will go thru an "extinction burst" and you might notice him sleeping more.. thats ok... givng a dog too much leeway can cause a dog to become a snot. kinda like teenagers, give them an inch they take a mile.. now since he has to earn everything he will act different, maybe be more relaxed, so give it time.. i would also make him workfor Everything, food, pets, and remove all furniture privileges indefinitely.. if he doesnt sit he doesnt eat. period.. he can try next feeding... i would also hand feed him his meals, make him work for every kibble , he doesnt do it, he dont eat. period.. some dogs just need a kick in the ass to bring them back to reality.. you can go to www.k9deb.com she has great info on NILIF and other training ideas as well

and i would hold off on the therapy test for now.. for the www.atts.org test they give tests all over, you cant talk to the dog or leash correct him at all during the test, so check out their actual test to see if you want to do it down the road

You can do it Amy Jo. Mary Ellen is the one to listen too. TO this day Rocky is to sit wait to be fed. That is one NILIF item that I have not given in on. He has earned couch but if he were acting like boomer that would be the end especially with a child in the house. Its going to work cause I know you will follow through. And I do not agree that it is not normal. I believe it is normal dog behavior to act an ass when given the inch. and no surprise with a smart pit bull who can figure how to push the buttons.

Thanks Carol Ann!!! Boomer honestly has nothing right now. I wont even let him run around when he goes out to potty. I walk around with him on a 6' lead! Thank you everyone for your help and advice. I see light at the end of the tunnel!!! I will keep you all posted!
