Well...Marley had to have an unexpected surgery today. Yesterday I noticed his eye looked swollen and I knew right away...He had cherry eye. Today his gland (I think it’s a gland in their eye?) was huge and his eye had a lot of drainage...he had to have it fixed immediately. So since he had to be knocked out for his eye he also got neutered today. He is curled up in my bed right now ‘recovering’ and enjoying being pampered. He has proved to be quite the little hunter-He has caught a rabbit, a squirrel, and a mouse. We live in the country and his favorite thing to do is to get himself stuck in brush piles chasing out rabbits…He is a drivey little thing. We cannot keep him out of our pond (More like our mud hole ) Every chance he gets he is swimming. Let’s see… He also loves playing fetch with anything and everything from corn stalks to tennis balls, He likes making nests (Rutting around in blankets for a LONG LONG time until the point that his ‘nest’ looks more uncomfortable then when he started), He likes to play ‘soccer’ (Rolling a ball around with his nose and front feet and chasing it around like a mad man), and his favorite thing of all time is laying curled up on the couch under the covers beside me, Gustavo or Avery. He is a snuggle bug. I will post some more pictures of him soon. He is really putting on weight and his skin is looking great.

Isn't it funny how you put out the blankets and stuff and make it super cozy and they just go and rut around like little piglets until it looks not so comfy, lol.
Good to hear he is doing better, more pics!

I will put some pictures up tonight!
It amazes me how he has come out of his shell...When he showed up he was a timid and neutral little thing. Yeah...Definetly not the way he is now. When he is inside he is a couch potato but the second you take him outside he is bouncing around in the grass, chasing leaves and crazy. LOL! He is very interesting to watch.

I'm glad Marley is recovering happily after his surgery and that he's fitting in with your family so well. Just promise that you won't leave us for a Cocker Spaniel forum... you can join one, but you have to stay here too! ;D

Just promise that you won't leave us for a Cocker Spaniel forum... you can join one, but you have to stay here too! ;D We'll have to have a virtual knighting. We can crown marley an honorary pibble.

LOL! Thanks guys and do not worry...I’m staying. I was a member of a Corso forum for a short amount of time and deleted my account very quickly. The forum was so...snobbish and judging. Today has been quite hectic so I will post pictures tomorrow...Sorry. I think Marley would be a proud little Pibble. He sometimes reminds me of my Pibble...Boomer. Don’t get me wrong, he will never fill Boomers place but he is a goofy in many of the same ways Boomer was.

Thrilled to hear everything is going well with Marley! I like what Garland said about "knighting" Marley an honorary pibble!

Ok guys…I FINALLY have pictures. Today was a beautiful day so I picked up my parents dog to let him run around and had a play day on my acreage. I have 3 videos that I really wanted to share but I have no idea how to get them to play on my computer. They will save on my computer but every time I try to play them it says that the format cannot be supported. I will keep trying though. In the mean time though…Here are some pictures of Marley! BTW I cut his hair myself! I bought a shaver and did it! If I’m training to be a groomer might as well practice on my own dog. I thought it was pretty easy…It helps that Marley finds getting shaved really relaxing and sleeps through it! I didn’t do the ‘correct’ Cocker cut because the up keep is a pain in the butt…I just shaved him all short. Looking at the pond. I love this picture. You know exactly what he is saying…Notice how he is looking in his ‘crotch’ region. He is totally thinking “Look at what they have done to me!” This picture in itself says a lot about Marley. He stood there for quite some time. I kneeled beside him, Molly & Jake (The other dogs) were wrestling around and he was standing there staring at a car door, ignoring all that was going on around him. “Maybe if I stare at it long enough, it will open.” By the way, there was no one or nothing going on with my car. He was just playing then decided he was going to stare at my car for the next few minutes. Dorky dog! In this one picture-Marley is summed up. Just look at the expression on his face. LOL!

I was amazed how fast he really healed. When he came home his eye bothered him a little bit but now its completly normal. And he healed very quickly with his neutering as well. The stiches are 'inside' and are the kind that disolve. You can barely see the incision already!

He's so cute!! I like the short cuts on cockers vs. the "cocker cut". Marley, the rare and highly sought after Pitter-Spaniel!

Ok. So I had to reformat the videos and now there is a tag on the middle of the videos but you can still see so Im going to post them anyway! Jake is the humongous yellow lab mix. Molly is the black lab mix (She was believed to be mixed with Pit Bull but I don’t know…She looks mostly lab) Molly is my junkyard ‘rescue’. This guy had junkyard dogs-all female labs then a huge intact male APBT running loose in his junk yard. One of the labs got pregnant and there was Molly May! We had to go to the junkyard to look for an old car part and she was sick, skinny, and covered in oil so we took her. She is technically now my parents dog but she spends A LOT of time at our house…She has ‘sleep over’s’! LOL! But she is a VERY stubborn dog!

So I think Marley is taking this ‘honorary pibble’ thing too seriously. We have a big rope in one of our trees that we had for Boomer to play with (Kind of like a spring pole but just a rope). Boomer never really could play with it because of his backend but we just left it in the tree because it would be a pain in the butt to take down. Well today Marley showed A LOT of interest in it…He was holding on to it for dear life, pulling with all his might!!! LOL! I’ve never heard of a Cocker Spaniel that even plays tug-o-war. I will try to get pictures of him if he does it again.

LOL! Thanks Sugar! I cant help but to think it was meant to be...He is such a good boy. I just dont understand why anyone would ever just leave and neglect him the way they did. At least he will never have to worry about that again! He is in his forever home.
