AWESOME education for the public! Showing Dharma off is so great for the breed. I also love the "Find the Pit bull" sign. I took one of those tests a few years ago and I got the Pit on the second try. I was so embarrassed! Did anyone guess correctly?

Thanks everyone. I don't even have words for how proud I am of Dharma. I know I talk about her too much and brag too much, and I do love each and every one of my dogs. But she is just a FANTASTIC dog. So friendly, so loving, so trusting. HSMO had the table next to us and they had a display with pictures from the bust site, including a couple of Dharma on the chain and being rescued by lead investigator Tim Rickey. It was very powerful to see those pictures, and then see Dharma hopping around as happy as she could be. I think Dharma made a huge impact that day. We educated a lot of people about pit bulls and dog fighting. And yeah, Gale's "Find the Pit Bull" poster is awesome. A lot of kids came by the table and I was surprised at how many of them got it right on the first guess.

Yep, thats the one and no one I knew could pick the right one (even after quite a few tries!).
Most of the ones I saw that kept being picked were the Presa and the Cane Corso, Ca De Bou and the Dogo.
They tended to be very surprised that the pit was 'so small'. I pointed out Dharma to some people (showing off a dog that isn't even mine, lol) and I kep getting asked "What is she mixed with because she's too tiny to be a pitbull, plus her head isn't really square enough"
Oh Miss D, you are just a petite beauty!

Oh Miss D, you are just a petite beauty! LOL! She is a dainty little thing... until she starts racing around the house, jumping on your head while you're asleep, playing tug of war with the blankets, and throwing her kong around the room. Gale jokingly refers to her as Her Royal Highness. ;D She is mixed with something... somewhere back in the breeding line. The dog fighters were breeding small, short females with big muscled males. Most of the breeding females were very small. But you should see some of the boys that I'm pretty sure are Dharma's babies. VERY handsome and sweet as sugar!

I don't know if it's just the tripod thing or that combined with how cute and sweet she is when she hops up to people, but I can't begin to count the number of people who have broken into tears just looking at her. Mostly young girls, but some grown women and men too! There was a young intern at the capitol that day who was crying the entire 10 minutes we talked. It actually makes me feel really bad and I always tell them "Please don't cry... she's doing great and lives a very happy, very pampered life." She really doesn't look that pathetic to me, but I have to pick up her poop, smell her NASTY farts, and grab her when she's trying to lick her brother's butt, lol! She ain't cute all the time! (Ok, well maybe she is ;D)

There is defniately something about her. Her presence speaks volumes! I know there are a lot of pitties out there changing minds and doing a great job representing the breed, but there is just something about Ms. Dharma. It's like she's holding the torch for the rest of the pibbles out there. There seems to be so much wisdom in her eyes that commands the attention of any who take one look at her. She's reminds me of the female characters from fantasy-like movies who are young, gorgeous, dressed in fine linens, but above all wise, and carry themselves as one who holds the keys to the universe. Like the demi-goddess Io (Clash of the Titans), Queen Amidala (Star Wars), the princess from the upcoming movie Prince of Persia, even Evey from V for Vendetta. You look at them and see strength, beauty, poise, courage, and knowledge. That's what she reminds me of anyways. Dharma is a princess, a very wise one! I love miss Dharma and all of you guys and gals behind her! She wouldn't have all these wonderful opportunities if not for all of you! And if it helps, I smile every time I see her!! ;D Yay for Dharma pictures!
