Well now that we've figured all this out, Mary, it would seem that we should have been friends for awhile now.
Pretty cool, I'd say.

Sugar, you always crack me up!!!
Shay, I ditto Mary's excellent list of suggestions for giving vegetarianism/veganism a try. And check out the websites that have been shared in this thread... there are some really good ones!
I'm so glad that I have RPBF... knowing that I'm not the only pit bull loving, PETA hating, dog rescuing, horror/sci-fi movie loving, inappropriate humor having, shut-in-because-my-dogs-rule-my-life, vegan out there makes me feel better about myself! ;D

Love it, Suzi! I feel like that should be our battle cry (though I'd have to tweak it a bit to fit me).

Any suggestions of favorite beauty/personal care products? Urban Decay make-up has an awesome line of vegan products. But I have yet to find a shampoo that I'm really happy with.

I don't know if you have a Lush near you, but they are great, you can also order their products online at: www.lushusa.com/shop None of their products are tested on animals and many of them are vegan, including my favorite conditioner, "Veganese" and my favorite shampoo, a solid shampoo called "The Blonde."

I like Giovanni for hair. Too Faced makeup is great, as well as Urban Decay. But neither of those companies is 100% vegan so shop carefully. I also recently found this company but have not tried any of their products, yet: skinbotanica.com/

+1 for Lush! Their stores always smell amazing!
Have you looked into Shikai or Beauty Without Cruelty? Also, I know skin cream wise I always loved Kiss My Face

I like Lush, but it's kind of hit or miss with me. My best friend got me a lovely Lush gift basket for my birthday a couple years ago. One of the soaps made me break out in hives. I have really sensitive skin. But maybe I will try their shampoo. Mary, the next one I was thinking of trying is Giovanni. Since you like it, I'll do that. And Urban Decay has a special line of vegan products. I tried some of the eye make-up and I really like it. Thanks ladies!

I've really thought lately about being vegan. I know I would definetley have to do it in small steps. I do like meat(my husband is a huge meat eater), but I always feel gulity eating meat. Reading all of your comments makes me think it's worth trying.

Lush's veganese conditioner is really mild, so I don't think it would give you much of a problem. I've never had a reaction to the products I've tried (Veganese Conditioner, The Blonde Shampoo, Glögg Body Wash, and Jungle Conditioner), I don't think I have really sensitive skin, though. If you buy it at a store you can bring it back if you aren't satisfied (that's what they always say as I leave), so you may be able to try it and return it if you have a reaction. Essence Organics has some vegan products, www.desertessence.com/

I love Essence! Actually I was just going to post that they have awesome jojoba oil. Great for makeup removal, to clean skin, and moisturize. I also use it on my legs after shaving. It is great, I'm addicted to it.

I've been considering going vegetarian for religious beliefs (Buddhism) but haven't quite gathered the courage to do so. I don't think I'll ever be vegan, mostly because it's too "extreme" for my lifestyle, and just leaving meat if I ever do go vegetarian will hurt. But there are many good reasons behind converting to vegetarianism, mostly moral. Maybe I'm just rambling but I just wanted to contribute to the conversation... ^^
