After reading an article in the recent Whole Dog Journal (which, btw, I recommend to EVERY dog owner!) I decided to start feeding my dog green tripe again. I had experimented off and on with it in the past, but mainly stopped due to allergy issues that I've since gotten under control.
Anyhoo, the tripe I am using is frozen raw grass fed beef green tripe from Bravo. (Opinions on Bravo, anyone?) I get it special order from a local pet store (which I will also recommend to anyone in Union County, NJ, it's Animal Crackers and they have raw/frozen foods, seem to be able to special order what they don't carry, and have a nice array of all natural, healthy treats).
Green tripe in general is something I HIGHLY recommend you feed your dog - there are a variety of sources, and it seems to be easier and easier to find now a days, because of the raw food boom.

LOL ok.......fyi, the Bravo doesn't really smell. Granted I've been sort of holding my breath while dishing it out, but I'm not really getting that "knock you on your ass" stench that I expected.

Thanks, ME, I knew you'd have advice here I will look into both brands and see if my supplier can get either. I know there is another brand the store can get, but can't remember which one. Might have been Oma's.

I did a quick search to find out what Green Tripe is...oh wow that sounds gross.
Do you have a link to a reputable site that explains the health benefits?

I keep reading about higher energy levels... if Devin gets any higher in her energy level she might spontaneously combust. Other than this is interesting. Would the tripe be suitable as a training treat?

No good for training treats...it's moist and raw cow stomach LOL Don't think that's something you'd want to have in your hand.

Honestly Devin's food drive is so low some days I might just invest in a pair of latex gloves and suck it up if it works.
Either way I'm sure she'd like it in her food.

There is freeze dried tripe, I think Solid Gold carries it (could be wrong, gotta double check). That might be useful for training treats. But trust me, when you see typical raw tripe, you'll understand why I'm saying it's not suitable for training

Green tripe is supposed to be one of the most 'perfect' foods you can give your dog, with a perfect calcium/phospherus ratio for the species.

if you give your pup green tripe make sure you start out with a little at a time, its VERY rich and if you give too much at once your pup will have the runs ...
