TJ's has a cheap and delicious meatless ground "beef," too. I bet the shepherd's pie would be really good with mushroom gravy. That recipe looks delicious! I sooooo wish I had a TJ's where I live. The closest one to me would be about 2.5 hours away. I have looked at their website and have TJ envy of anyone who has one near them. Kroger is the only store in the town I live in. They're meatless ground beef was a precooked pound for $9.99. There is a Fresh Market about 20 minutes away, so I'll have to see if they have any cheaper.

That is pricey! We had Kroger back in Kentucky and I remember it was a bit pricey. Nice stores, though! If you go to TJ's website you can request a store, it worked for Portland! We just got our TJ's last year!

Does anyone use flax seed or flax seed oil? How do you incorporate it into your diet?

^ I do. I just use as directed on the bottle, which is like a tablespoon a day.

Thanks to pinterest I found this recipe: Cilantro Lime Rice & Black Beans www.favfamilyrecipes.com/2008/09/cafe-rio-cilantro-lime-rice-and-black.htmlIt was so yummy. I cheated and used my rice cooker, and I omitted the sugar. I tossed the garlic, and lime juice in at the beginning too. When it was done, I tossed in the cilantro, stirred it up and put the lid back on. For the beans, I did add the corn. I don't eat vegan, but I do cut out a lot of meat from my diet. You can easily substitute the chick broth for veggie broth. I followed my rice cookers directions for liquid to rice ratio as well. I also didn't add the butter/margarine since to me it is just added fat/cal. Quick, easy and very satisfying. I made it into burritos.

My magical seasoning mix: cilantro, garlic, black pepper, cumin and dill. A "complete" savory taste!

Oh, home science experiment. Pour some cilantro or deal or similar stuff into some liquid. Add pepper and watch what happens. Add cumin and watch what happens. Cool, huh?

Okay, so I'm now just throwing stuff together. Yesterday I made whole wheat pasta with white beans, tossed broccoli and asparagus with sauted mushrooms in LOTS of onion. Had enough for dinner and two lunches. It was excellent!

Cilantro is an imitation of parsley! I think that's why I hate it. When I was 8 or 9 I used to always eat parsley springs from the fridge. But then, one day it wasn't parsley at all, but CILANTRO!!! The fresh minty flavor I was expecting was replaced with the flavor of soapy, soapy death. Ever since then, I can't eat cilantro.
