Thanks for sharing! I've heard a lot of people saying that they don't see any Terrier in Staffords or APBTs. I definitely see Terrier in Saxon!!

Lots of APBT people are into the "Pit Bulls are Bulldogs" thing, which always struck me as stupid. Why would the original breeders use terms like Bull Terrier if they weren't indeed Bulldog X Terrier crosses? Why would popular nicknames include such terms as "Half and Half"? Almost all of the famous old pit champs were under 45lbs, many under 35lbs, some less than 30lbs. What sort of bulls would those dogs be able to catch and hold? Terriers were famously successful in other blood sports like the competitive rat killing events and their speed, athleticism, stamina, tenacity, finishing instinct and huge bite strength per pound ratios would have been known to all fighting dog and general blood sport enthusiasts. The Bulldog X Terrier was an experiment that was all but predestined to happen and, once done, was indeed the huge success that the experimenters were hoping for. The notion that there is terrier in SBTs, APBTs, AmStaffs and Bostons shouldn't even be controversial, let alone thunderously denied by so many.

Well put John. It is rare that I see a true American Pit Bull Terrier in the shelters. Yes, I see TONS of mixes, tons of American Bullies wannabes, Presia, and yes, it has rosette ears but a true APBT is rare. One reason I loved working with bust dogs you see the true terrier line but in recent area busts you see a hybrid of breeds. Sad, where is the APBT? Good breeders stopped breeding because of the idiots wanting to "get" their dogs. The overpopulation of backyard bred wannabe APBT ...bred with no regard to the true temperament of the breed. Bad legs, shyness, and other issues are now bred into a pool. Sad, real freaking sad. I am on my soapbox now. In my 12 years rescuing dogs, I have seen a lot of change in thought. In my world, there is an APBT. It is a breed. It is a wonderful agility working dog. Love the AMSTAFFs & SBTs too but I am a sucker for a pit bull not a pit bull type dog. ;D Attachments:

I love Pit Bulls, but I also love my handsome little Staffordshire Bull Terrier (who I do not call a "pit bull type dog").
