Rocky got his first real therapy job. Unfortunately still not at my local library. Adult programer on board, but children's seems to have apprehension. But after the word got through the system I received an email with a girl from a library a couple of towns away. She has been looking for a therapy dog for over a year now. After an ER visit where a therapy dog came in she became very interested in it.
So Rocky will be introduced during spring break before a magic show then after the show the kids can sign up to read to Rocky every other week for private 20 min sessions. We will see how that goes and if we need to expand. Hope that my library right here decides how great it is and then I can walk there and not have to spend so much on gas. One of the reasons I am only going every other week. Plus it will cut into my family dinner time.
What I want to share is teaching Rocky a new command "READ". Does anyone have tips on how to get a solid "READ". LOL here are photos of us practicing. You will only see my hands and feet in a couple of photos as I was in my pajamas, no makeup, and bed head. Notice the blurry photo. Rocky thought Read meant to touch and turn the pages of the book. I think this may be a good cozy set up to bring to the library with us. Its a big bean bag for the reader and a pillow for Rocky. That bean bag was donated to us for Aura but she was scared of it so it got donated to Rocky's therapy work. Tail Waggin Tutor coming next month!
