I have been learning about this breed since Molly came into our families life and am surprised at the prejudiced attitude regarding this breed. Yes you do need to train your dog but any breed needs training. There are dogs that meet different needs in their behavior and everyone should learn their dogs need. For example, is. Your dog a work breed or a foot warmer? How much space, exercising, food, attention, etc......your pet will need. Actually, any kind of pet you take in needs a knowledgeable caretaker (think the lowly goldfish) . I'm glad Molly is in our home now. She has the attention her breed needs with my husband home. She went for a car ride and 3 walks yesterday. In just the short time we have had Her I can see why this is such a wonderful breed. Its true "no bad dogs, just bad owner's " still learning!
Sorry about the errors. I'm not using my computer. My fingers are to fat. Lol

It's hard to understand why everybody doesn't fall in love with this breed, isn't it? It's great that you are learning about the breed and becoming informed about responsible ownership! It's important to remember that although "bad owners" are to blame for the sensationalized incidents we see in the news, it's also true that pit bulls do have a genetic tendency for dog aggression. That's not bad, it's just who they are. So being a responsible owner means setting your pit bull up for success by not putting them in risky situations. There are many many posts in the Training & Behavior section about how to do that. And there are tons of great positive training tips too. Molly is so lucky that you decided to go camping for the holiday and that she is now part of such a loving home!
