Oh ok thats what I thought but got confused when I realized I was on stubby dog thread. But she did thank stillwell for her work with Lennox and asked her to do it in florida closer to her home instead. Does stillwell live in Florida?

Neither is Martha or Junior. Why? Because they are fortunate to live in smart communities where punitive dog laws are based on the owner's behavior, rather than the dogs' appearances. Miami-Dade County, Florida, is a place like Belfast, Northern Ireland -- the place that executed Lennox, a family pet. Miami-Dade dog laws consider any dog who looks like a pit bull to be dangerous, regardless of his behavior or, more important, his owner's behavior. To everyone who is outraged over Lennox's execution: what are you doing to change discriminatory laws in your own backyard? Hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of dogs were executed today in the USA, just because of their appearances. THEY are the dogs who are Lennox, not the family pets living comfortably in our homes. The dogs who were killed today didn't have Facebook pages though, because they didn't have owners empowered enough to challenge these laws or they were homeless and didn't have owners at all. What are we doing to help them? What are we doing to prevent future families from suffering the loss that Lennox's family experienced? Are we outraged by the injustice happening right under our noses, the injustices that were not discussed on CNN and MSNBC? Victoria Stillwell, we're very grateful for your efforts to help Lennox. Now we're ready for you to help the families in your own backyard, like your neighbors in Florida. On August 14 Miami-Dade County will have a ballot initiative where voters will decide if they want ineffective, discriminatory dog laws that target innocent people because of their family pets. Sarge and Junior and Martha are NOT Lennox because people took action. Now is the time to take action. I have another thread on this. Called this pisses me off.

Checked their website, they've made an announcement that they are proud of this. I'm STEAMING over it, and wrote a note to stubby dog: I am a 20 year volunteer for the Plainfield Area Humane Society, a pit bull friendly private shelter; was a 10 year volunteer for Friends of Terriers pit bull rescue, and recently a volunteer for The Real Pit Bull. I am appalled that your organization is profiting from the death of Lennox by enabling a t-shirt company to also profit from the same situation. The three organizations I've volunteered for would never even think of that. If you are an upstanding member of the rescue community, you would in turn donate ALL MONEY GAINED from this venture to the family of Lennox who actually lived and suffered the death of their family member. Did you send that to their email directly? |
