PDog has 2-4 adoption days a month.Today we had the Dog Temple and Rehabilitation Center who is supposed to be a rescue group. Instead it's basically a "Dog Psychology Center" run by a Russian Cesar Milan. He didn't bring any dogs for adoption and actually had a client bring their DA dog in so he could jerk the leash and choke the dog out. PDog supports positive reinforcement, force-free training so I was horrified, but couldn't say anything. He didn't talk to any customers about his adoptable dogs, only about his training place and photography business. He collected donations, but I don't know if they are going to care for his rescue dogs or not. Here are some pictures I took. I was a bit disturbed at just how thin his personal dog, Shorty, was. You can really see how thin he is in the picture where he's laying with Sam. Here are the pictures he took. You can see me in one picture. I was talking to a customer and petting her Basenji-JRT mix, saw he had the camera on me and tried to jump out of the shot. No such luck. There is also a picture in his "Planet Dog" album of his trunk filled with Iams dog food implying that we donated it to him. We didn't. We only carry good food, not that grocery store ****. www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151085707123085.439948.289382493084&type=1I had Saxon with me, but I put him upstairs when I saw the guy show up. The moment I saw him, I felt something was off. I'm glad I did. He probably would have jabbed, kicked or jerked Saxon's collar if he tried to play with shorty. I talked to my manager and we won't be inviting him back.

Here you see a DA dog who, unsurprisingly, growled and barked when an other dog walked into the shop. So, naturally, Russian CM jerked the spit out of him with the leash.

^ I knowwwwwwww. I thought so too. Poor guy I think back to the dogs owned by the trainers I initially worked with, back in the late 80's/early 90's and how down/stressed their dogs always were. Really pathetic. Side by side comparison with R+ trained dogs - well, there IS no comparison, it's night and day.

Poor Shorty!
Im so glad I found this forum years ago because I one point, I thought that ^ was the way to train a dog.
When you train a dog based off of rewards and respect, the bond is unmeasurable. When you train a dog based off of punishment and fear, the bond is not there.

Totally saddest face I have ever seen !! Poor dog !
I could not sit back and watch any one yank the leash , grab the collar or show any form of abuse to any dog !!!
Goes to show , anyone can have business cards printed with anything , stating their expertise.
For myself , business cards don't validate anything ! It's all in how the individual presents himself , if he / she is dressed appropriately , and more importantly how they approach a dog , their interaction with the dog , and if they are positive or negative.
This poor dog clearly shows saddness and not knowing what oexpect from this guy !
I look at the dog's photo and then look at Saxton's photo....What a difference !! Saxton's happy face , then the poor dog's sad face !!
Sorry , I couldn't sit and watch this wannabe , so-called trainer ! I would voice my opinion loud and clear !! If we don't speak up , it's like giving permission for morons like this guy to continue doing what is totally very wrong !Just my opinion !

There are absolutely ZERO credentials needed to become a "dog trainer" or a "dog behaviorist". People must NOT take someone's word for it when hiring a trainer or behavior consultant. Before you choose a trainer: read this warning:www.realpitbull.com/warning.html

That is so true !
Years back I came into contact with this woman who was recommended to me by someone on another pit bull site.
The printed card stated she was a behaviorist , pit bull trainer , and schooled in pit bull psychology ! LOL !!
At the time , one of my dogs was stalking the younger dog and there were issues.
As soon as this woman saw the older dog with me in the yard, her face completely changed. Right then I knew she had very little experience , if any ! She had two pouches of treats on her person. I told her I would open the gate for her to enter. She asked what should she do upon entering. Big RED FLAG !
I told her not to pay attention to the dog. I had given the dog a filled kong that she was busy with when the woman entered . Inside the gate she stood next to me. Immediately she called the dog to her (at this point I thought I would observe. ) Immediately she started feeding the dog treats. Immediately I thought she was afraid of the dog by what she was doing. Long story short. I had to finally stop the feeding of treats. We sat down outide on the patio. I told her my concerns regarding the two dogs.
After 30 minutes I mentioned we should go inside. That this dog and the younger one could not have any contact. Having said that we entered the house. She informed me that I needed to muzzle the older dog. I asked why , she proceeded to tell me that she wanted to see how the dogs reacted towards each other.
I told her that was not going to happen , that this older dog wants to kill the younger one. She grew angry and told me she was the expert and knew what she was doing. I disagreed.
She continued to insist I muzzle this dog. I told her I was not !! Told her that I wanted her to leave my house. She stayed seated !! Again I asked her to leave...she didn't move. I asked my roommate to take the older outside and to put the younger one in my room. After the dogs were removed . I closed in on her and "told" her if she didn't get up from being seated , I would 'help' her out of the house myself ! She then decided it was in her best interest to leave in one piece ! lol !
I learned that business cards are sometimes bogas ! That many times people want to boost themselves into pretending to be something they ae not , to be deemed as respectful ! That they have knowledge and specialized training , education etc...when in fact they are cons only !
Honestly , at that time , I had more knowledge in my little finger than she had with all her lies!
People never cease to amaze me !!
I learned a valuable lesson that day ! lol !
