Hi there, my name is Kim and I do not have a PB yet but am hoping to by the fall. I am joining this board to gain knowledge about the breed so that I can be better prepared for life with a PB. Currently we have 2 E.Bulldogs. One that we have had since a puppy and is now almost 12 yrs old and the other a rescue we adopted about 2 years ago who is 3yrs old. Both are females. With great sadness I must say that the older girl has a large mass in her abdomen and we are cherishing every moment that she is still with us. She was my first child so to speak and is my best friend so the thought of her not being with me is extremely painful. I am distracting myself with researching PB's as I want to adopt one once my girl is no longer with me and once I have a chance to grieve. I have already learned from this site that is best to adopt a one year old (or older) rather than get a puppy as the adult personality is present and there is a greater chance of finding one that fits into our family peacefully. We also have 4 cats and 2 kids age 9 and 10. I volunteer for our local county shelter and that is where I fell in love with PB's. I do not want to jump into this naively so I am here to learn what I can ahead of time. I look forward to learning a lot and some day adopting an adult PB. Thank you!

Hi Kim, I'm so sorry to hear about your Bulldog being sick. I understand your worry/pain for sure. Losing a heart-dog is so difficult.
You are doing the right thing by researching the breed and taking things slowly. Too many people fall in love, get a Pit Bull immediately then realize they made a bad decision. Hope we can help you with any specific questions you may have.
Welcome!
