I came across Winstons allergy test results today. I misplaced them about 4 yrs ago or so.
I've learned a lot since then, and reading the immunotherapy recommendations I understand a lot better what it says.
Somehow I missed that he's allergic to tall ragweed.
Not only is he allergic to storage mites, the notation said that this includes mold mites, dust mites. It also said that high humidity and moisture and mold are where mites develop.
(as well as flour, grain, pet food etc) He's also allergic to futurism roseum which is a fungus found on grain crops I think?
I've been so damn worried and focused on storage mites. Didn't realize the scope, so now it makes a lot more sense to me.
When I first got him, he was fine, but he started to develop symptoms around October, 2 month after I got him. We had a lot of rain that summer and the unfinished basement flooded a bit. The landlord took care of whatever happened. But I'm going to bet there was mold down there.
We moved in Nov. to different house, which had flooded before but all the drywall and flooring in the basement been replaced. But whose to say it was mold free?
My house has had water issues. Had to fix a plumbing leak under the sink, and the toilette then the roof. Whose to say there isn't mold somewhere? I live on a gravel road, off a busy highway, across from a large grain elevator operation. Lots of allergy symptoms.
My sisters house hasn't had flooding issues, dry basement. Etc. But he still has allergy symptoms, just not so bad. On a gravel road out in the country, dusty but not too bad.
My ex's house is less than 10 years old. Dry basement nice heating and air filtration. His allergy symptoms were mild.
We move back to my place and his allergies kicked into high gear. He was on apoquel, but I haven't been able to afford a refill...but I have a job finally so that will change.
Over the last year I've noticed he does better on lamb based foods, he does best with Merrick apple and lamb, and blue buffalo.
I can't wait to put him back on apoquel. Replace my carpet with laminate, and hopefully that helps get him through life a little easier.
