I've been working on a holiday tree to put on our site as a fun way to raise money for our dogs. The idea here will be for people to "purchase" ornaments, or gifts, in honor of their pets or people. Each ornament and gift will have a set $$ amount and as folks donate for their item we'll put it on the tree along with a message that they would like for us to display. Okay, so here's the "finished" tree and what we HOPE to see by Christmas time if we get it up on our site by this weekend. What I'm needing from you all is opinions because after looking at this thing for so long, moving layers here and there... adding details, etc... my eyes are crossed and I may have missed some small detail that you might see.

that looks awesome! mieseles shelter in ohio does something similiar, and depending on the donation you can get a tree ornament with your dogs picture in it hanging on their site.. its a great fundraising idea!

ROFL! I happened to randomly notice ONE thing earlier when I was talking with Kat about how we wanted to continue setting this up. She'll probably strangle me for mentioning it but I think its hilarious. And even MORE so since no one here has mentioned/caught it yet Look at the bell at the very top of the tree on the left under the star, next to the bulb. Count to 5 and tell me what you see!

LOL!! Nobody's crazy... it does move. It's co's I decided to move that bell over a little bit but stupid / silly me only moved it in one frame. I didn't even think about it co's I did it spur of the moment when I was adding the last few lights and getting them all arranged. Oopsie.... ;D Runs off to fix the tree.... K, here ya go. Anything else y'all see that's not quite right?

ROFL!! Jessica... you crack me up! Sorry, nothin dirty here... just a dancing bell in the first one. Tina, I use ImageReady for the animations. It's not hard, just tedious when you're working with a lot of layers and frames.

So when someone decides to donate/buy an ornament/gift, how will you display their names?

Well, what we're thinking is that we will replace the donate button with the persons name and their message. We *could* set the tree and ornaments up in a table and then do it where when people hover over the images they'll see an "alt" text with that info, but then that doesn't work in all browsers and we want people to be able to see their messages without having to hunt for them or use a specific browser.

Okie, here's the page pretty much completed... if you click on the link where the word "below" is at... it'll jump down the page to where the individual messages will be displayed. www.nhpbr.org/graphics/memory_tree/holiday_tree.htmlAlso, if that link doesn't work give it some time. We just changed hosts today too so it may take a couple of hours for the site to propagate for some folks. Ahhhh the beauty of the web huh! lol

Aww yay, I saw Krash's mention. Thank you. The 4 year anniversary of his death is Jan 30, and I am happy to have that little blurb up there commemorating him, for a cause that helps his kind

We're happy to do it too There are so many animals out there that touch our lives and even if its small, we do think it's important to recognize them. I had a wonderful Chow when growing up that I want to do something for. My mom and I "rescued" her from a drunk friend of the family. She was tethered outdoors with all of 5 ft of cable and the man fed her when he remembered. We brought her home and I gave her a bath and fed her and started bonding. We never had to house train her. She would hold it for hours and would NOT go out when it was raining. I remember the very first day that we had her, we'd bathed her and then took her outside to the fenced in yard. Within 5 minutes she was happily wagging her tail at the side door waiting to be let in. She was one of those naturally GOOD dogs who aimed to please. I miss her terribly much.
