Pineapple works well, might be a good idea to try that first. Poop eating in dogs is, unfortunately , pretty natural/normal dog behavior. Barring a health/diet problem, I generally treat it as an environmental issue (i.e. pick the poop up right away) instead of a behavior issue. The pineapple might be useful to you, though.

LOL...Koda has done this from the beginning, and has since "taught" her sister Sierra the same disgusting habit. We do our best to clean up poop ASAP, but sometimes you just miss one!
One time Koda ate a whole log and immediately puked it back up still in it's same "form"...that was probably the most revolting thing I have ever seen!
We haven't really tried anything to stop them, other than quick clean up. My friends use some kind of pill that they get from the pet store, but apparently it took over a month to start working, and even now it doesn't work all the time. Personally I wouldn't want to give them a pill for this reason.
Anyways, a big YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!!

Gross!!!!!!!!! Daisy doesn't eat her own poop, or Murphy's...but she'll snag turds when we're on walks. I really wish people would pick up after their dogs. I think she's just sniffing around, then I see her licking her chops..and I see a turd there ::::horks::::

Because they LOVE rabbit, cat, horse, cow and any OTHER poop they find. ugh

Coprophagia is a pretty common and natural behavior in dogs, just like licking their butts and hoo-hahs. I have 11 dogs and of those dogs 6 of them eat poop. Not their own poop, but the other dogs' poop. My method is to keep the yard as clean as possible. I can't scoop after dark so yes, some of them come inside with poop breath before bed, which earns them a night of sleeping in their crates. But, every effort to STOP this behavior has proven totally useless. I think the dogs DO learn the nasty habit from each other because I have a couple of dogs that didn't do it until they got a little older and started learning it from the other dogs that do it. Yeah, I concur that it is pretty nasty. But, just like when people treat their dogs like kids by letting them do unthinkable things...they're dogs...and they do dog stuff...and yes, a lot of it is gross...but, I digress.
Some dogs naturally hate dog poop and some dogs like it but don't love it. I am always surprised by the number of people that say "my dog doesn't eat poop" and then they freak out when they finally CATCH their dog doing it.

I have heard that dogs do it for a couple reasons. First...they might just be cleaning up their surroundings. Second, some dogs that have been undernourished or have had to "fight" for food, will eat their poop as a way to get the most from their food...get those last nutrients that were undigested the first time through. Apparently shelter dogs, strays, or those that came from large litters are more prone to this behaviour. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it makes sense.

Yeah, what is up with poopsicles? One of our dogs growing up did that, and Aiden does too. They would never eat it unless it was frozen... Cat poop, on the other hand...

Everytime I hear about someone else's dog eating poop I just want to hug my guys! I am so thankful they don't do this. Yuck! My guys are such primadonnas if they accidently even *almost* step on a turd, they suddenly have this mortified look on their face as they delicately dance around the offending pile! It's hilarious. These are the same dogs who lick themselves and fart all the time, of course.

I've heard too that adding meat tenderizer to a dogs diet will discourage them from eating their own poop. That doesn't really help much if they're eating other piles they come across along a walk tho. I think teaching "Leave it" is probably the most effective way to deal with poop eaters, aside from keeping their area clean.
