New Jersey Bill Encourages Vets to Offer Free Spay/neuter www.animallawcoalition.com/spay-neuter/article/970Posted Jun 24, 2009 by lauraallen Spay-Neuter This Thursday, June 25, New Jersey bill, A118, will be voted on by the full Assembly. A118 would permit veterinarians and physicians to earn continuing education credits by providing certain free veterinary or medical services. The bill is sponsored by Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri-Huttle, Nilsa Cruz-Perez, Gordon Johnson and Albert Coutinho, and co-sponsored by Sheila Oliver, Significantly, this bill will allow a veterinarian to offset up to 10 of their required 20 or more credits for continuing veterinary education by offering free spay or neuter services to (1) individuals on certain types of state and federal assistance and (2) municipalities or nonprofit organizations operating a TNR program. I hope this passes! Low cost, accessible S/N and education go a loooooooooooong way to cut down on euthanasia.
