wow, there's some terrible b.s. in that document! I just hate that "attack without warning" crap... it's NEVER true. People just need to be educated in SEEING the warnings.
It doesn't seem to conform with the latest agreement, either in terms of giving all dogs a chance.

Awful, awful piece of crap. Very discouraging on so many levels.
"In this author's opinion, the placement of dogs with a history of fighting should be strongly discouraged or outright prohibited."
This just does nothing but promote paranoia and hysteria, IMO.

And check out the bottom description: there is a link to dogsbite.org. THANKS ASPCA. Great work. I swear, these organizations just need to leave the breed ALONE.
This is the author: Leslie D. Appel, DVM Director of Shelter Veterinary Outreach ASPCA

Appel, DVM Director of Shelter Veterinary Outreach ASPCA You know, that's not an ASPCA site. Look at all the dogsbite.org documents on there. Maybe it's an out of date presentation someone else put up? Maybe one of you more official types could contact Appel and ask her what the deal is.

I'm certainly no expert so please correct if I'm wrong, but this seems inconsistent with ASPCA policies and practices. Not that they're perfect by any means, but this is just total BS.

Yes, it does, and Emily has a good point....maybe this is up there independently and they don't even realize. Dogsbite.org plays dirty....I don't know how you post stuff up there, but if non-authors can post material they didn't create, this might have been an old doc that Dogsbite got a hold of and posted to push their agenda.

FYI, Kat linked me to that and I sent the link to our local ASPCA contact to see if he could offer some insight to it's validity. Still waiting to hear back.

For a year, our volunteers went into HSMO and worked the Stoddard dogs. We never saw human aggression and the dogs that shut down after a year became recluse, not biting machines.
Set up groups is a website that has an agenda. The agenda for dogsbite.org is to elimate pit bulls from the gene pool.

FYI, my ASPCA contact is "looking into it." He didn't give me any indication one way or the other whether it was theirs or not. Neither here nor there lol

Suziriot, we can start our own facts actually. We have experience, we have knowledge, and I can put some letters behind our name to make us look FABULOUS.
SO........what do you think?
