^ Do those jackets have a fuzzy inner layer? How water-resistant are they?
Has anyone come across any non-ridiculous-looking, durable dog sweaters online? Sierra gets cold at night since the temperature has dropped and our house is old and drafty.

yeah I have but think it is rather expensive I will probably make my own out of fleece fabric as it can be cut and not have to sew or sew very little. The problem I have found with fleece is it causes static when taking on and off and Rocky now does not look forward to putting his coat on. Maybe if I spray it with static guard it may help. www.chillydogs.ca/chillyWearAllBreed.html

I have been trying to find a good snow suit type of thing for my Baby Tuz. He literally collapses in the snow... it's cute but so pathetic! He'll do the lifting alternate paws thing for a couple minutes, and then he'll start shaking and crouching, and finally he just lays down and cries until I pick him up. Poor baby has so little fur on him he has to wear sweaters all the time in Winter.
I actually found really cute argyle sweaters on clearnance at PetCo last year. I got matching ones for Baby Tuz and Lebowski. They are freaking adorable!

i got rufus this snow suit, but he hates it and refuses to wear it... if you can sew its easier to make your own clothes for the dogs.. and cheaper....

OMG, poor Rufus! He looks pretty sad in that snow suit, poor boy.
I wish I could sew. I love those Chilly Dogs coats, but holy cow they are expensive.

Thats the first picture I have seen of rufus unhappy while in clothing. That looks very uncomfortable and a poor fit. I agree all learn to sew. I did, I am not good at it but the first thing I made was a dog coat. Its not too pretty close up but Rocky does not care. I used a pattern for a Greyhound I found for free online. You can make one out of fleece and only have to sew on velcro. Anyway the Greyhound pattern worked well for Rocky. You see these coats are expensive and our dogs well mine anyway has a big chest and a skinny belly so the pre made coats never fit right. Here is a picture of the first coat I made out of one of my kids ski jackets they grew out of. I used the Greyhound pattern. I have since had to alter it and add alot more to the bottom and front straps as he has grown alot since this picture. I also recently made another coat from a kids jacket I bought at the thrift store for a dollar. I am still working on it but as soon as I am done I will post it. If I can find the original pattern I will post that too.

loverocksalot, I am SO impressed with the coat you made for Rocky. I so wish I could use a sewing machine, but the best I can do is sew on a button!

Thank You I asked for a sewing machine for Christmas. I some what learned how to use it. Its not that hard actually. I am not good at all and my stitches were all crooked and stuff you cant see in the photo. But that was like the first thing I made. It was actually a very easy pattern. I am real bad in math and horrible at measuring. I am still looking for the pattern when i find it I will post it. I used a paper grocery bag and cut the pattern to size and tried it on Rocky before sewing it all together. the different colors in the coat is exactly the way it was as a former kids ski Jacket. I cut it to shape and put this hem fabric stuff I don't even know what its called but that is the yellow strip you see around the edges. The straps on front and belly were made from excess fabric from the sleeves. I have not sewn much of anything else. But I have now been inspired to get back to working on last years coat project. YOU CAN DO IT. trust me I am not a good sewer at all.

loverocksalot You could sell dog coats! That is awesome! No way it looks good in pictures and serves its purpose but my stitching is awful. Every once in a while I stitch back over where I messed up and it came apart. There are little threads all over. This is why I am showing it cause you all can do it if I can. Saves a ton of bucks as I am cheap. Unless it is a major clearance I don't buy. For anyone in the family. But I am proud that I made it and it keeps him warm and dry.

Oh Well I did find that I had in fact printed out the entire very detailed web page on how to make a coat for a Greyhound which in fact was a good pattern for Rocky's build. Unfortunately the website does not seem to be up and running. They were called Greyhound Manor Crafts. Im glad I found it as since I am not too good at this it gives me the instructions to make it custom sized per dog. Too bad we are lacking fabric stores in my area but if I got good enough I would try making them and selling real cheap. Especially if I make em out of recycled stuff. Ima try to make one that Covers Rockys Belly more. Maybe this is how I can help out at the shelter I can make coats for dogs out of recycled items from the thrift store.
