I've been debating all day whether or not I should post this here but I just can't stand it! I have to share! Last night Alicia and I were talking about fundraising for our trip out to MO to get our sweet babies and we mulled over the idea of doing a challenge of sorts. Our chipin goal is $1200 and as of late last night we had $210 in donations. That's not bad, but the chipin has been up for a couple of weeks now and we are eagerly anticipating the release of the dogs soon and we REALLY need to be ready to go when we are given the okay. I woke up this morning with an ambitious mind and set off to facebook to repost our chipin and issue a challenge to all of my friends, their friends and so on. I asked for 10 people to pitch in $10 by 10pm tonight and to "pay it forward and pass it on". Well, they did and guess what! ;D We have collected over $500 on our fundrasier just TODAY! ;D We ARE going to meet our goal and I have it set in my mind that if it doesn't happen tonight... it will happen by the end of tomorrow! ;D I know many of you are friends of ours on facebook, but I figure what the hey. Here's a link to the widget and our chipin page for this massive effort. If it's not too much to ask, will you all please pass this along to your family and friends and ask them to donate even $5. Every little pit helps and we are SO grateful for everyone's help in this! TEAM WORK RAWKS! helpfixlily.chipin.com/missouri-or-bust

Awesome, congrats NHPBR! (I was laughing over the Pit slip up!) I want to come hang out with you Pit-crazy maniacs! The aim is the 24th you say? I will have to see what I can do as far as raising funds. Michele and I talked about coming out there. It would have to be - fly out early on Sat, and return late on Sun. Flights out to STL actually aren't bad, just priced some on Orbitz.

The flights are fairly priced We considered it honestly, but our concern now is are they going to charge us for dragging 4 crates along with us LOL I mean, we can fold them up, and zip tie them together, but those things are freakin heavy...And then we'd have to work on getting a hold of people in MO to get a vehicle to get us back to Charleston.

We totally appreciate anything that's donated so thank you! And we're looking at three dogs now, possibly 4. I think the link you are talking about is PilotsNPaws. I can't remember for sure either. We have to go though to do a re-eval on the pooches to make sure they're right for our program, otherwise, that might be a really good money saver!

damb I wish I could help with flying the dogs. My son is working on his private pilot right now and needs to do hours he will soon be ready to do a cross country but not sure the distance he is allowed to go. And when soloing does a dog count as a passenger. He cant take passengers yet unless he has his instructor. I'm going to look into how he can get involved with pilots n paws.
