Ok we are having really nasty weather in MI. We had rain at first then freezing rain. Now everything is freezing and we have a blizzard warning until late tomorrow. Reed and Lola have been really good with not really being able to go out as much as they would like(to play). We have played with them inside and they slept late with me as well. They aren't acting up, but I feel like they are bored. After dinner I plan on doing some training stuff like sit stay down. Its stuff they already know but its always good to reinforce right? I don't know what else to do though. They have plenty of chew toys and really are being very good but with the blizzard warning I have a feeling they will be stuck inside tomorrow too . Any other ideas would be great. The good thing about this awful weather is that my work closes when schools do so I do get to stay home with them

when it rains or we have a bad storm JuneBug does not like to go out he's a scaredy cat...LOL I bought a few hollahoops and we play with those he likes to jump through them so we run around the house and he jumps through hoops. I will also take painters tape and stick it to our floor in straight lines and zig zag lines and ask him to walk the line he looks silly but it's fun to watch him. We also play hide and seek. I give the sit stay command then I go hide...we incorpated a kitchen timer( it took a few trys but he got it) when it dings he comes to find me. It's fun we act silly and just enjoy the time with each other. I have to admit some days we just stay in and play for the hell of it.
Good Luck with the weather.

I live in Iowa so a majority of the time it is either to cold or to humid to play outside therefore I use my treadmill to exercise Boomer.
If you have a treadmill, I would strongly encourage using it to exercise your dogs! Make sure you start slow if they have never been on it before and make it a positive experience! Also, this seems kind of obvious and I’m sure you already know this but make sure you NEVER leave your dog on the treadmill unattended! You need to be RIGHT there watching them!!!
Boomer LOVES running on the treadmill and gets really excited when he’s going to get put on it! Another thing Boomer really enjoys on these days where outdoors are out of the question is playing tug-o-war. It drains his energy and we have a blast together!
Right now we are experiencing some interesting weather as well (A TON of snow…making world news and below average temps). I had Boomer outside today for 10 minutes and he was holding his feet up because of the cold.

I can't remember where Alicia did the pics of it, but a long lead/cat toy with long string and a toy attached at the end are fabu for inside play. We don't have too much cold down in AL, but I've had several fosters that hated the rain, so inside play is normally along those lines. They chase the toy. Also, laser pointers, if yours are into that kind of thing.

I believe you are thinking of a flirtpole, Garland?
My guys plays more in the house than outside year round. No coffee table for us! I think I miss our walks more than they do. I love seniors, haha.

The Hoola Hops and Hide n Seek were what I would do with my kids when they were stuck in the house and we had so much fun that I thought JuneBug would enjoy it too. I'll try to get some pics of us playing to post. It's pretty funny stuff.

Awesome ideas! I wish I had a treadmill I think they would love it. I do have a flirtpole that I realized I can get out for them. The laser pointer only works for lola so maybe we will separate them and play with them that way. Reed loves the laser pointer too much. Its impossible to actually play with it with him because he knows its in your hand and wants to get it out of your hand! Thx everyone, I'm sure my babies will be grateful as well!
BTW, we did get hit with tons more snow and its like 19 degrees and getting colder! Amy, the storm that hit you came through here too!

If you have a basement or an empty room, set up a small agility course. We have fun letting the dogs have fun with a tunnel, walking beam, or jumping through a hoop. Fun interactive and wears out the dogs and the human. ;D

BTW, we did get hit with tons more snow and its like 19 degrees and getting colder! Amy, the storm that hit you came through here too! It’s just wonderful isn’t it??? Today (With the wind chill) its -20 degrees! Yesterday we moved snow but it was so windy that we would turn our back and another drift had formed where we just plowed! It’s never ending! I already wish it was summer! While I was shoveling yesterday I kept thinking: if this was July this breeze would feel amazing and I could be sitting on the porch drinking lemonade then I could go on a long walk with my Boomer…then a snow flake landed in my eye and my daydreams were over!

Yep, -20 wind chill here too. I have to get Otis some boots because the ice is really hurting his paws. And Dharma so does NOT do cold weather. I think she figures she had to endure 3 years of living outside in a box all winter long and now she is not giving up her warm princess bed to prance around in some stupid snow.

I would say Dharma definitely deserves to stay warm inside! Boomer has boots but HATES to wear them! He walks so goofy in them.

Reed and Lola have boots but they HATE them. They both will let me put them on them but they won't move with them on. Its actually pretty funny. They just sit and look at me. I swear they are cussing me out or something in their minds. So I'm going to get some mushers secret for their pads. Just to make the cold a little more tolerable for them. Yesterday Lola came in after only a few minutes and was whining and crying while holding one paw up. I felt so bad for her. I wiped her feet with a towel and she stopped crying. Its just too cold for these big tough scary pit bulls!

ROcky absolutely loves to play Hide an Seek! When it is bad weather we spend most of the time taking advantage of couch snuggle. Rocky is not allowed on the couch all the time. Rocky also enjoys to go sleigh riding. that is pretty hilarious. I have video but its on my other computer. Its also from like over 2 years ago. so i will have to go find it.

Aiden has Muttluks. He walks a little funny in them, but otherwise doesn't seem to mind. I really have no choice with him because he has the most sensitive feet I have ever seen on a dog. If he even runs in the backyard in the summer, he cuts his feet, on the pads, between the toes, and even on top. Poor little guy has baby skin, and the scars to show it. :-(

Yogi does not like the rain but he will go out and do his thing when I tell him to, such a good boy, it snows extremly deep up here and I have the slanted roofs that when the roof is covered, snow comes down again and again....its hilarious watching the dogs running around trying to escape the avalanches, they are not dangerous though but sometimes the depth on the roof is three feet high.... yogi loves the snow and just about loves to make snow angels...lol my little one, not a pitty hates the snow and rain. its darn ski country fifteen miles further up the mountain...mucho, mucho snow....

i have a similar issue, although it isn't due to weather. we're stuck in a bad position because this dog weighs more than i do and i can't run him. he was my boyfriend's dog and my boyfriend bailed (drug addict...). anyway, petey dog LOVES the bad cuz ball and we play inside quite often, but my apartment is WAY too small to handle hula hoops and hide and seek. also, since this is a pretty new situation he is really freaked out and a lot of people i've tried to pay to get him exercise have taken him out once and refuse to come back again. any ideas?
