CarolAnn, what part of NY? I'm in NYC and would love to have some type of social time for Chubby with people that understand the breed and would help me keep him happy and social

I once tried to sign up to a NYC based pit meet up group, but most of the pits I saw in the pics were American Bullys (those lowrider fat dogs) and some were intact. Figured that may not be the right group for me (or Chubby).
Mary, come to NYC!!

Sugar, Maryellen and I once met someone at bear Mt that was from the city. I am upstate on the other side of the river. takes about an hour by train to get to penn station. do you have a car or only able to take the train? Maybe Maryellen and I could get together closer to the city. I know I am trying to get out more often and walk around get some socializing thing happening locally. BTW what are the rules on dogs and trains just curious.

I think on a train your dog must be enclosed in something (bag/crate) for subways and LIRR/Path type trains.
I don't have a car, but my brother does so i can try and see if the bf and I can borrow it (I only recently got my license so driving on highways is not something I have any experience at). Since the weather is getting nicer, maybe a Bear Mt thing would be nice (I really want to get Chubby socialized, but people around me always cross the street with their dogs when they see us coming. And besides I think I would prefer to have him be around dog-savvy people that will see any tension happening rather than people who just let their dogs run up to eahc others faces and don't see when a fight is about to break out).
The people at the shelter said Chubby is good with other dogs (they only mentioned once that a big hound keep getting in his face, but it wasn't really a fight, Chubby just had to give him a stronger "back off!" because Chubs is generally pretty mellow)

That would be fun Sugar. Bear Mt not too bad of a drive from the City. Straight up the Palisades parkway. Also there is the state line look out on the palisades another nice place to walk. But Bear Mt has much more activity of people and dogs. So for socializing better environment. ME we should find the free parking lot. Not to complain but why pay 7 bucks if we can park for free? One of the workers at the station the time when I forgot my money told me there was free parking on the other side. ME yeah totally understand the one needs to be crated if we ever were to ride together.

We should try to set something up (maybe for June or July, give people plenty of time)?
I seriously want to me you guys in person, and we can all show off our handsome boys and girls (and it would be pretty freaking hysterical to see people's jaws drop when they see a bunch of pits being sugary sweet!)

Surprisingly so far the few times I went to Bear Mt. Most people are interested. You will usually hear people saying what good looking pit bulls. I dont recall any negative coments. Just idiot dog people try letting their dogs greet. Yeah we could plan something I think June be better cause July is too stinking HOT! Unless we do an eve thing. In the summer they have a car and bike show and it does not cost as much to park. Now I sound cheap. It is on weeknight though. You dont have to do the car show as the walk path is not effected by the car show. Very stimulating for the dogs though near the car show with all the children carrying hot dogs and ice cream. Rocky once almost grabbed a hot dog right outa a little girls hand.
