This hasn't been posted on our website or FB yet, so you RPBF people are the first to hear the news. This is a basic outline of our new program.
We need the two Big F's: funds and fosters, so anyone interested in helping out, please get in touch with me or post questions, etc here.

The Karma Dog Initiative
What is the Karma Dog Initiative?
The Karma Dog Initiative (KDI) is a program of The REAL Pit Bull, Inc. (RPB). Through this program, we rescue exceptional American Pit Bull Terrier (Pit Bull) spokesdogs. The Pit Bull is a wonderful, amazing companion animal. They truly are a dream to share your life with and the love they give to their humans is unmatched by any breed in Dogdom. Despite incredible trials, this breed continues to rise to the challenges presented by human society, inspiring endless devotion and love in its humans.
What is unique about KDI?
At RPB, we think Pit Bulls have an exceptional power to help transform, heal and open the minds and hearts of humans. They have an inspiring ability to love and forgive, even after experiencing extreme brutality. We always say, "To know one is to love one" and the best public relations agents for the breed are the Pit Bulls themselves.
Dogs that enter the KDI program will demonstrate the true Pit Bull spirit and temperament: gentleness, intelligence, courage. These are the dogs reminiscent of the Old World Pit Bulldog, the dog that served with our Military, played with our children, and was the original All-American canine darling.
KDI will allow the Pit Bulls who enter the program to grow to their fullest potential, demonstrating what this breed truly all about. We will provide a platform for individual dogs to blossom and grow, showing the community-at-large the REAL Pit Bull. Through press releases, public campaigns, blogging, online listing services (PBRC, Petfinder), the RPB website, and on-site adoption events, KDI will showcase the breed and the stories and progress of individual dogs in the program, together with information on fostering and adoption.
Let the Pit Bulls do the talking.
KDI is more than just a rescue and placement program: it is a chance to give back to the dogs what humans have taken and allow them to shine and be who and what they truly are. Pit Bulls are their own best public relations agents and KDI will let Pit Bulls speak for themselves, and become spokesdogs for their breed.
In addition, through training and certification programs, KDI Pit Bulls, through RPB and/or once placed in permanent homes, will participate in animal assisted therapy programs, service dog work, and other activities that benefit humans. In this way, the Pit Bulls that pass through this program will give back to the community.
About Fostering & Adoption.
Each Pit Bull that enters the KDI program is spayed/neutered, fully vetted, vaccinated and microchipped upon entering foster care, and before being placed into a permanent, contracted home.
If you are interested in becoming a KDI Foster Parent and being a part of this important program, please email us at info@realpitbull.com for an application and someone from RPB will get back to you shortly! Foster Homes must be located in New Jersey and Foster Parent(s) must be able to travel to weekly classes with their foster dog.
Foster parents must attend training classes with their foster dog and all dogs will earn a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate prior to permanent placement. (These classes are provided free of charge to Foster Parents through RPB.)
After a minimum of 30 days in foster care, our Pit Bulls are matched with their perfect forever person/family. RPB will provide ongoing follow-up and support to all foster parents and permanent guardians.
KDI's goals outside of rescuing, placing, and showcasing spokesdogs Pit Bulls is to serve as a model foster/placement program for other rescues. In this way, we hope to initiate innovative, exceptional rescue and placement practices that help more dogs and better serve the breed as a whole.
