Awesome. I wonder if Mary Poppins was done like that? I know I've seen a Mary Poppins one... off to find it!

;D Yes, that is still probably the all time best of the "horror recut" genre!

I watched Melancholia last night. Was very disappointed. I had been looking forward to this, especially since I liked von Trier's last movie Antichrist so much.

Well, I just watched Wes Craven's "The People Under the Stairs". What I took from this movie is the following: If you are considering doing a horror film with a social conscience, don't bother.

^ That movie was one of my faves growing up. It had it's moments, but had too many logical flaws. I could have been a great one. It certainly had a different angle and an interestingly different reason for the "heros" to end up where they ended up to justify the action. But the execution wasn't as good as the premise.

I watched it again recently and it definitely didn't hold up over time. But when I was little, that movie scared the heck out of me.

Tim and I watched a Finnish movie on Thanksgiving called "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale." It's mostly in Finnish with English subtitles, but there are a few English Speaking characters in it. It talk about the history of Joulupukki (Santa Clause, but it literally translates to "Christmas Goat") a little bit, which is very fascinating. It's a little eerie, a little sad, a little cheesy and a bit funny. All in all I really enjoyed it! It isn't available to watch instantly on Netflix, just as a DVD. Check it out, if nothing else, to hear the beautiful language of Finnish and see the beautiful scenery of Lapland!

I cracked up when I first translated Joulupukki! Perhaps you've seen those Yule Goats at Ikea or elsewhere? They're usually made of straw. The old "Santa Claus" in Scandinavia (and I think elsewhere in Europe) was an evil Goat-like creature that scared children into being good and demanded gifts and such. When they changed over to the American Style Santa, they just never changed the name over from Christmas Goat! So Joulupukki now means Santa Claus! There are a lot of words like that in Finnish!

I watched The Mist yesterday. SO good! Can't believe I waited so long to watch it. The end was rough, though.
