Here is Paco's story...
To know Paco is to know that his “disability” doesn’t get in his way. He loves to play with his human and canine friends and loves rolling on through the pet store and neighborhood. Paco’s affinity toward cats, however, is unknown as he hasn’t been exposed to them. His personality is as beautiful as his physical markings are! Paco is sweet, calm and gentle yet fun, active and playful. He loves to be held and snuggle on any lap he finds- even if he’s too big for it. His eyes show that he is tender- and grateful to be given a chance to find a family that can’t help but adore him for whom and how he is.
At 12 weeks old Paco was in a Maryland shelter. A plea to save this disabled puppy reached Faith’s Hope Rescue, based in Philadelphia , and they responded. Paco was taken to UPENN and physical therapists to evaluate his condition. It was determined that Paco was born with some fairly significant deformities in his hips and rear legs- unfortunately there wasn’t and isn’t anything that can be done to correct his condition. Paco’s physical issues do not involve his spinal cord so he is not incontinent. While Paco can sometimes stand briefly, he cannot walk. He gets along just fine indoors on his own and uses his custom made-to-fit wheelchair for the outdoors! Paco is now one year old and in need of finding his forever home.
Paco comes with a fan club- support in terms of his care needs and possibly pet sitting if you’re local. As much as we want Paco to find his forever home, we are committed to finding the right family- the family that is genuinely committed to and understanding of his needs and like Paco, doesn’t think of his disability as a major obstacle to having a wonderful life!
