Well the only place I know of these days is all the way up in Kingston. My dad went there weekly with his dog. But he was willing to drive more than an hour to work on his dog. I do know they are very Pit Bull friendly. Also see they are having a Suzane clothier seminar this weekend. I heard about it a while ago but forgot. So guess I'm missing that once in a blue moon opportunity. k9crazyplayskool.com/skool.htmI remember there was also someone in Rockland but for the life of me cant remember the name.

Question about Control Unleashed... it seems to be agility/exercise focused. Would it still be a good one to use with Dharma in mind? I mean, she's a fast little sucker on three legs, but her balance is terrible. I had thought we were close to passing CGC, but we are really stalled in her training right now because we can't get past a couple of fear/anxiety related issues. Her trainer, who was doing everything free of charge, has had some personal changes in her life and is not very available right now. I've exhausted everything in Click to Calm and On Talking Terms/Calming Signals. They helped us get this far - and I absolutely do not want to diminish or understate the amazing progress that Dharma has made this past year - but we need a little more help getting her therapy work ready.

I understand it is mostly agility focused. However you can pull some things out you probably already know anyway. Like the threshold stuff and doing things from a distance. What is it you are having difficulty with what kind of fear?

It is good for any dog that needs help with focus, has fears to get over, etc. It is FILLED with awesome little exercises to do with your dog. I recommend it for everyone, even though technically it is an "agility training book".

Chubs is not an agility dog in the least and Control Unleashed worked great for working on his focus and ball/toy obession issues. I highly, highly recommend it!!

Control unleashed I hear is an excellent book. My dad used those methods for his agility dog (an Aussie). She was too reactive to other dogs and people (excitement). She is now a very focused amazing agility dog. I agree! I am actually taking a seminar in December from the author. I am so excited. The book has really helped our dog Ninja come a long way and is now training in agility. Not very helpful to the original poster, but to anyone else reading this I do highly recommend this book!

I guess I better borrow that book from my dad (agility man) who led me to believe it would not be much help for me.

I understand it is mostly agility focused. However you can pull some things out you probably already know anyway. Like the threshold stuff and doing things from a distance. What is it you are having difficulty with what kind of fear? Dharma will sometimes just "freeze" and not want to budge or do anymore work. She doesn't pancake or shut down. She either plants her butt and won't move, or she gets really anxious and acts like she wants to run away. It doesn't always happen, but at this point she is not going to pass CGC/therapy testing. She is still only about 50/50 with me leaving the room/area while she stays in a relaxed sit/down position. She sometimes gets really anxious and agitated, and even though she has stopped trying to follow me, she stands up and will bounce or even whine and bark sometimes. Also, at home she sometimes gets really worked up over the phone ringing or someone coming to the door. She bounces around and barks, then runs for her crate to hide. We've worked on this a lot and I think she is doing somewhat better, but we have not progressed at all beyond where we've been for a couple months. Hopefully Control Unleashed might help us get past this stuff.
