ok. thanks. I'll post some linkage to videos once i get my FlipVideo Channel setup.
Am pretty surprised how smart she is. Once we train the owner I think she'll settle in pretty good.
Thanks for all the help thus far...will post back with updates.

When we first got Rocky I was needing to paint my living room. He was just a pup new from the shelter. I played soundscapes music on the cable tv. It is like a new age relaxing music. Every day same time. at first he whined a little. But he would fall asleep and sleep for 2-4 hours. Eventually it became the daily routine. Now he is 5 years old and has not been in the crate for years. I started trying crating again in order to do programs/demonstrations which would require him to stay in the crate for a while. He whines more now then ever. But if I pretend to go out he is silent. I do like mary suggested and I reward for quiet. Then he while let out a little whine yawn thing and be quiet tilting his head listening if I am coming. So smart. It is a game now. The ticket is Bully Stick. Wish they lasted longer. Also freezing stuff in a kong like peanut butter, cheese whatever you have, having 2 of them ready to go has been a comfort more for me knowing he has something to keep busy.

I do like mary suggested and I reward for quiet. a little confused on the reward for quiet. Is it rewarding for quiet while in the crate, for ex i go get some coffee and toss her a treat in the crate? or is it reward for quiet if she's out of the crate and just hanging out watching TV? PS...at some pint the n00b questions will stop ;-)

You can do the exercise I described on the last page whether she is in or out of the crate if you are having problems with whining/barking. For now I'd mainly focus on rewarding for quiet IN the crate (click/treat for spans of quiet time - make sure you have at least a minute's worth of time between noise and quiet before you C/T). But if you are having such good success with what you are doing now (which is mainly ignoring, right?) I would continue with that. Keep the questions comin' !!! ;D We are all noobs at something! And questions asked/answered on the forum end up being great resources for others along the way, as well.

Thanks Mary. So the two items are somewhat relate but different.
On crating: She seems to be getting better(fingers crossed) as the days go on. She'll whine a bit..selttle down...whine a bit..etc. Hope i continue to see the frequency & duration decrease.
The barking: This is mostly when out of the crate. It happens when my neighbors across the street open their garage, hang out in front of their house. She'll alert bark when they're out there, and continue with it after they've gone in. Also, at things that I cannot hear or see. Seems to happen more at nigth.
At times i cannot distract her at all. I at times walk over and say thank you and try to get her into another room away from the front door. Put a treat in front of her, she doesnt go for it. or if lure her out and treat, then stop after one, she'll eventually get back up and bark again.
She'll also bark at the TV noises, etc.

I watched the whole thing. You are doing a great job. Taking everyones advice. Nice music and all. She seems to be doing great. I recognize that whine. It is exactly what Rocky does. He will do it in crate. If I go on a walk and stop to talk to a neighbor. In training classes he did it. She seemed fine till she knew you were home. She was really enjoying that bone was it a bully stick. I only give bully sticks in the crate when I am home. I was not sure if it is safe to leave with them because I always take away when it gets down to small piece. Can anyone tell me do I need to do that. When he gets to small piece he puts the whole thing in his mouth like is it ok if he swallows chunk of it. I have never video my dog while away. My dad does it and some how has managed to figure how to view it from a computer. I have watched his dogs from my house on my computer.

Oh and forgot to say how pretty she is. Thanks! Btw. I can now monitor her while away over the Internet. My new routine is to work from star bucks in the morning...as we build time away.

i wouldnt leave bully sticks alone with any dog while not around.. too much of a chance of the dog choking.

Marc try stuffing the marrow bones with peanut butter, bananas and scraps you have and or kongs and freeze them. I only use the bully sticks for distractions while home. Give her the bully stick for being a good girl while you were out this way she can build more time in there while you are home and she stays in the crate for a while. I use the bully sticks if someone comes to do work like when they cleaned my fireplace. Rocky wont leave them alone. Wants to hang with the visitors. That is good bully stick time.

Yes I went to a class where I was required to bring sting cheese. I was confused as to why. Reason was to hold in mouth so dog looks at you. Also because it can easily be stripped to bits. You are doing awesome with her.
