well i took the plunge.. i am getting a dog from Rosemarie at Faiths Hope Rescue next weekend ...
a 14 year old 30 lb cute little mutt whose elderly owner went to an apt that only allows 20lb dogs and wouldnt make an exception to her elderly dog...
Sheeba is on my fb page now
i cant wait to get her and get my feet wet again with fostering...
so if anyone knows anyone looking for a 14 year old dog who is good with other dogs, humans, housebroken let Faiths Hope rescue or me know

thanks Suzi!! i cant wait to get her saturday afternoon. first trip will be for a sweater, then a neck measurement for a collarmania bling collar too... and a baby gate so she doesnt fall down my stairs , and a litter box as i am going to litter train her so that she has the option of going outside or using a litterbox..

She's a cutie! Litter box training would be great for her. I wish we could get our old girl Nine to do it, but she refuses to catch on.

I love Rosemary she rocks and I respect the heck out of her!
Yeah ME....can't wait to hear all about it. I will see if I have any extra girlie collars and if so I will give them to you when I see you on Saturday.

suzi i found what works is clicker training for litter box, and i use the arm n hammer essentials which is nothign but corn meal for litter, its softer then regular litter and if the dog eats it its ok lol, you might want to try that type of litter and clicker train her too...

Nine is almost completely deaf, so she's the only one we have not done clicker training with. She's so old and cranky now that she just refuses to do anything but lay on the couch or in her "nest" bed, which is the bottom half of an old Vari Kennel with memory foam, pillows and blankets - ground level and easier on her legs. Not to get off-topic from Sheeba, but I would be interested in finding more training resources/info specifically for older dogs with physical limitations. I know a lot about working with special needs dogs, obviously, because of Dharma. But nothing I have would work for Nine. Hmmm... thanks for getting me thinking, ME!  |

does nine know hand signals? maybe try to train her that way for a litterbox? hmmm i wonder if she would hear the clicker since its such a higher pitch? have you tried it with her at all? or a whistle?

Yeah, we tried the clicker and she completely ignored us. She looked at us like she knew something was happening, but couldn't seem to make the necessary connections. She does know hand signals, and we've used them with her. She just doesn't pay attention very well anymore. She's at that "I'm really old and I could give a crap" stage, lol! Maybe it's time to try again, though. Unfortunately, she has a lot of potty accidents in the house. She and our other old girl Kuma are actually living with grandpa and grandma now, at what we call the retirement home, lol! Nine is too cranky to put up with the younger dogs' antics. But we see them every weekend, so maybe I'll try this with her next weekend. Thanks ME! |

I was going to ask if we should bring something but I likes Pizza. Ah Crap just went onto NOAA not liking it.
Saturday: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Calm wind becoming northeast between 6 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Hope it gets too warm to snow. Why cant Saturdays be sundays forecast. WOOHOO heat wave 36 degrees
