That's so awesome Maryellen. She did not look so old in her photo. Does she seem or act younger than she is? It is so amazing you took in an old dog. What sparked you about her?

It kills me to see seniors end up in shelters. Sheba is SO lucky!

rufus is infatuated with her, he keeps trying to play with her and cant understand why she wont play.... i told him he is lucky he got a cougar girlfriend lol.....
yeah i would have hated to see her in a shelter, no way would she have survived, she is nervous right now, shakes, and is so confused poor girl.... she does settle, i figure it will take a few weeks so we are doing the 2 week shutdown in the sense i wont take her anywhere except for walks with her and rufus for a while so she can get settled... and of course as luck has it, she is super picky about where she potties... right now she loves my living room carpet and hates the snow lol.... so i am getting a litterbox today to teach her how to use it instead of my carpet (upside little dog = little pee lol not lake style pee)

lol he is such a .... he cant figure out why she wont play with him.. i told him she is a senior and needs to settle in lol.. he just cant wait lol..
i am going home lunchtime to take them out , she got a flagyl last night to help as she had the runs at the other temp foster home, which might explain why she hasnt pooped yet lol.. hopefully she can hold it for 4 1/2 hours till i get there lunchtime lol..
she gives the softest kisses, last night i leashed her to my bed and she slept in her new dog bed next to my bed as she kept barking in her crate and i needed some sleep lol.. she kept looking at me like "let me on your bed pllleassssse" but i didnt give in the bed is too high and i am afraid she might jump off. she has a slight heart murmur, and some mammary tumors which right now are benign. she is feisty though for an old gal thats for sure...

Yeah I could imagine a 14 year old house dog would not be happy in the crate at night. I knew you were fostering but fostering a dog that age Is different, it is more likely to have her longer than a young dog. I hope we are able to make it tomorrow. I have so much to share with you all.

the only problem longterm i see is i have about 15 stairs as i am on the 2nd floor. she goes down fine, but going up will eventually be a problem

I just want to say God bless you for taking in a senior. They don't get adopted, and at the shelter they usually end up an office dog til the end of their days. They're loved, safe and well taken care of, but it isn't home. Caring for a senior sure is different. They almost become puppies again, but without the energy. It's a good sign she's adjusting. At least she's small so she won't be much of a burden carrying her up the stairs.
