Any chance we can start a quick and easy meal thread? I'm actually cooking now. My latest favorite meal... About ten minutes. A little longer with curly kale.

That looks delicious, Dave!
We had vegan shepherd's pie for dinner last night! I should have taken pictures, it was absolutely delicious and super comforting. I think that potatoes are the one food I could not live without.

Yep, and a little olive oil. I got the idea at a local restaurant, they had only one entree I could have. I added the sun-dried tomatos, love that! I also make it with spinach or kale.

I think that potatoes are the one food I could not live without. I used to make an awesome vegan shepherds pie using lentils instead of meat (for those of you that don't like the fake meat subs). and yes, taters are tasty They are my ultimate food love.

From the Veganism: A Truth Whose Time Has Come Blog Casein. Caseinate. Sodium Caseinate. – Casein is the principal protein in milk, and found in the milk of all mammals. Casein is found in cosmetics, hair preparations, beauty masks, used in adhesives/glues, paints, and plastics. It’s found in products marked “non-dairy” even though it’s a product of the dairy industry. Casein is coagulated with the addition of rennin/rennet enzymes (typically obtained from the stomachs of calves) in cheese-making. Casein is one of six substances that may be used to clarify wine. If you call the vintner, ask if casein or any other animal products are used in the "fining process". On the site of a casein manufacturer, one gets a clear picture that casein is a byproduct of the dairy farming industry, therefore in order to not support the horror of the dairy industry, don’t purchase products containing casein. Cheese contains casein, a substance that when digested by humans, breaks down into several chemicals, including casomorphine; which has about one tenth the opiate strength of morphine. The especially addicting power of cheese may be due to the fact that the process of cheese-making leaves casein in concentration. Marketing strategies of those trying to sell the public cheese have used terminology like “Trigger the cheese craving”. They know about the addictive quality of casein and use that to sell their product to the public. Don’t let them sell their products of slavery and misery to you

I can happily say that I've busted my craving for cheese.

There's a book that is thin of all animal ingredients that I got when I was first vegan. I think it's siply called "animal ingredients a-z" It was a lot easier to refer to than the list I printed out from the internet that was like aa hundred pages long. They also have an app for the droid. Probably for the iphone too, I just don't have one so I don't know.

Okay. So. Why are people so interested in what I eat, what I don't eat, and what they think I can eat? One of the women here keeps trying to catch me eating something with ingredients I'm not "supposed" to have. She questioned why I thought I could eat pasta. What? says I. She says pasta has eggs in it. And proceeds to show me a recipe for fresh pasta, with eggs. I say, That's an egg noodle recipe, and I don't eat egg noodles. My pasta ingredient list is "semolina wheat". Nothing missing. She says "oh."
Geeze.
