My Aunt, who runs The Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation, got a call from a guy that said he found a Pit Bull puppy injured and laying in an alley. We got her to the vet and she has a broken elbow...Ouch...I know! So it requires surgery and will cost 2000 bucks. We got a second opinion from another doc that is way less expensive. He cannot do the surgery, apparently it takes a specialist for this kind of injury. She is sheduled for surgery in the morning, 3-16-11. I went to get her and let her stay with me at work for the afternoon today, since she will have to be at the hospital all night. She is the most prescious little girl I have ever seen....and remember Lanee Bug is my dog...hehe so that means she is super awesome prescious!! I have already raised 800 dollars to help pay for her surgery, I have some very special friends and family. I have spent all of 4 hours with her and I know I am going to cry like a baby when I have to drop her off at the vet. We have an excellent foster home set up for her and she will be going there as soon as she is out of surgery and ready to go home. When I brought her into the dealership, there was a customer sitting on the couch waiting while her car got serviced. She immediately fell in love with Macey.....me and my girlfriend named her....It turns out that this lady had to put her 13 year old German Shepard to sleep about a month ago. She was beside herself over Macey and all but begged me to let her adopt the sweet little girl. I am hoping that once she recovers she will have her forever home....and I will be able to keep tabs on her. I just wanted to share this story will of my fellow pibble lovers....she is just so sweet and prescious....I want to take her home with me. I only have an hour left with her in my care and I am already sad that she has to leave me. Wish her the best!! Thank you sugar, catstina and suzi......I was super sad dropping her off but I know she will be in good hands. I took to her an unfamiliar vet and the people there were super nice to me. They let me take her back to the kennel and put her blnaket down and make her cozy. One of the workers had their American Bulldog named "Fat Dog" there and Macey wobbled over and they were giving kisses through the gate....too sweet! I am working on getting off work early so I can be the one to pick her up tomorrow and take her to her foster home. I feel I should be there to pick her up since I was the one that dropped her off. I am trying to reason with my three pups that we need a fourth, I think the consensus is that we already have a king sized bed and it is not big enough......

Okay, she made it through surgery and she is recovering well. The doc had to put a pin and two screws in her elbow. He had to disturb two growth plates and is concerned with how that will affect the growing process in that leg. He is certain she will have arthritis and could possibly need surgery as an adult. So now.....I have to find her a home that understands that and can both afford to keep her healthy and pay attention to any problems that may arise. Through all of this she is just as sweet as sweet itself.

Glad to hear that her surgery went well. Is she recovering with you or is she at the foster home now?

She is still at the vet for observation. She should be able to go home today. She is going to recover at the foster home and we are diligently trying to find her a good forever home.
