I think I'm going to hide all the people/groups that continuously post dogs that are about to die in shelters. I never bothered reading through the discussions that go on on these posts, but I just did, and I think my head might explode. Person after person *freaking* out that there has to be someone, anyone to take *this* dog from the shelter. Of course I don't want to see nice dogs being PTS, but do we really want just *anyone* to adopt?? Don't we want permanent, stable homes for these dogs, not decisions that are made in a flash because the situation is urgent? On the thread that I just read, male APBT in NYC shelter, going to be PTS soon. Couple from out of state drive up with their *intact male* APBT to see if they get along, and adopt. They did not get along, so now dog is back in danger...more people freaking out. And people giving out terrible advice that the couple should have adopted, and slowly introduced...correct any aggression, and they would eventually get along. Seriously? Ay yi yi, sorry just had to vent. Off to go hide these folks from my news feed.

I had to do that. It started to really upset me seeing so many dogs... then yeah, the comments.

I deleted some people who did nothing but crosspost crazy-dramatic urgent-dog posts. It's annoying and like you said, gets dogs bounced around from bad situation to bad sitaution. It's not productive or helpful in the long run. Who knows what happens to half these dogs that get pulled in emergency situations, anyway - it's like, once the dog gets pulled, it's no one's concern anymore.

ITA, Mary...once the dog gets pulled, it's on to the next one...like all that matters is the dog gets out now. Of course I had to go back to that thread LOL...and the same guy that suggested they go back and adopt the dog said that any two dogs will learn to get along eventually. Really?? What are people smoking?? Ok, now I don't feel so badly about hiding/deleting these folks. It's just too much.

Any two dogs will learn to get along? UGH. Obviously coming from a place of EXTREME lack of experience. Sounds like a friend of mine involved in rescue - he is convinced any dog will learn to co-exist with the other dogs and cats he and his wife share a home with. (They've just been lucky so far.)

Facebook to me is so often like reading the comments sections on all these ridiculous articles posted about pit bulls on the internet. Part of the reason I am rarely on it these days!
