www.examiner.com/dogs-in-national/celebrity-donates-towards-good-newz-kennel-for-dogs-deserve-better?fb_comment=31239011The non-profit rescue organization, Dogs Deserve Better, learned today that they are receiving a generous donation from a well-known celebrity. With little fan-fare and no request for a public announcement, Candice Bergen, the ever-classy actress of both television and film, quietly let the people at Dogs Deserve Better know that she loves what the organization does and that she supports the group’s efforts for the formation of the Good Newz Kennel Rehab Center for formerly chained dogs. Though naysayers recently implied that the Good Newz Kennel project may not happen, the group is powering forward. Online donations continue for the endeavor and hopes are high that the former site of unspeakable horror can be transformed into a place of healing.

I have really really mixed feelings about this. For one thing, the bad karma at that place must be overwhelming For another, for the amount of money they will have to spend to buy/renovate that place, they could do a lot more someplace else. I don't trust DDB.. they're the ones that don't hesitate to steal people's dogs It's a gimmick and I don't trust fundraising based on gimmicks.

IMHO, I think the place should be razed and plowed over.
Emily, is that some kind of rescue tactic they use? Like PETA followers letting crated dogs out at dog shows?

Like PETA followers letting crated dogs out at dog shows? the founder of DDB was arrested and convicted of theft for taking an old dog out of his yard and refusing to return it to its owner. The old dog died away from his family (which admittedly was not up to OUR standards of care) They are extreme anti-chainers.

I'm really against making a shrine of the place. Let it die, f'crissakes.

It's probably a publicity stunt more than anything else. How could they otherwise justify spending all that money and wanting to set up a rescue center on the *gag* Vick property? Like there is nothing else out there cheaper and with better mojo?
