Patrick is in AHS's care, being that they do animal control for Newark. .... I'm not sure what you mean by that, except in a legal sense. He's at the Vet's and will stay there until he's stable. After that, his care won't cost more than any other dog's. I don't expect them to account for the money they raise on his behalf, anymore than HSUS did re: Faye. Hopefully their policy on pit bulls HAS changed, otherwise what: they use the money to buy a lot of body bags?

He's at Garden State for medical, when he can be released he'll go back to AHS. Whatever money donated in his name goes to AHS after Garden State is paid. It will be considerable. And, no, they don't need to account for it. It'll probably be used for various project funds, or just thrown in the general coffer. Like it or not, that's what happens. Sorry, I'm not familiar with Faye. Was it a similar situation?

Dave, we (Mutts-n-Stuff then... Phoenix Pack now) took Fay along with Dharma and almost 35 other dogs from the big July 2009 bust. We paid for her surgeries and medical care, which cost A LOT of money. HSUS (who had not given us any funds and whose involvement with the bust did not extend to caring for the dogs after the bust went down) decided to use Fay's image and story in their own fundraising campaign. They even spelled her name wrong, as Faye.
Incidentally, ASPCA used Dharma's image and story in their fundraising as well... never asked me for permission. I think I posted about it here at the time.
