I needed to pick up meds at my vet's office 20 minutes away last evening, so I thought it would be a good socializing opportunity for Sedona. After the brief traumitization of halter, then leash, then actually going through the door to (gasp!) outdoors, she jumped into the back seat of the car very willingly.
The ride was uneventful, , and when we arrived I left her in the car while I went inside to see if I could bring her in. I met a friend who had her two dogs there, a 19 y.o. mix and her aged chihuahua. I figured this was going to be a bonus for Sedona, and I was correct.
I brought her inside (I had to lift her out of the car ;D ) and of course her demeanor changed when she saw DOGS! inside. WE had a great time after that, my vet of 19 years (also a good friend) came out and socialized a little, and Sedona had a great time.
The ride home was also uneventful, Sedona even curled up inthe corner for a while. I was glad to get her out of the house for the first time since she arrived. But holy cow, what craziness when she came home. It was like she found Nirvana when my dogs greeted her. It took hours for her to calm down enough to simply lie down with a bone. A good evening for her.
She also got her first night out of the crate, babygated in the living room. I left her curled up with a balnket on the sofa, and when I got up this morning I tip-toed to the LR and I was greeted by a blinky-eyed lil' punkin curled up in the same blanket.
She's a good girl.
