(Not sure if this is the right place to put this, so feel free to move if not) So, for my final research project in my English class we were given a choice: write a big paper, or do volunteer work and write a 600 word paper describing the experience. I opted for the later as I HATE papers!!!!!!! ;D But the volunteer work has to be a place approved by my college. They have a link on the school's website about acceptable places. Well, I live in the boonies, so I was kinda worried about finding a place I was interested in. But lo and behold there was an animal rescue approved by the school not too far from my house!!!!! And they have some pitties!!!!! 10 hours of doing grunt work for some doggies in lieu of my final paper- I can't wait!!! If I'm able, I'll post pictures!

Hah! Well, it has to be a paper on how what I did relates to what I learned the English class. Not exactly sure what I'm gonna make up there! Hmmm.... helping animals and info on literary vs. commercial, short stories, poetry, and drama... I'm sure it'll come to me when I sit down to write it. (I hope- lol)

Of course part of it must mention my reflections on the experience, but I also have to "connect the service experience with the literature during the quarter." It won't be hard, I just HATE papers, and bs-ing through them. I did the 10 hours yesterday. When I get a minute to really sit down and explain what happened I will. It was an experience for sure... Not an entirely good one, but an eye-opener into the world of petty arguments between staff, bipolar people, and married men who hit on you. I spent most of the day with a 55 y/o woman with missing teeth who cried from talking about her life and the way she is treated as a worker at that shelter. What a day... what a day...
