have you all been following Shirley's expose of the shocking conditions at the MAS and the indifference of most of the staff, the director and the Mayor? They apparently kill over 70% of the animals they take in and most of the staff treat the ones at the shelter with indifference/cruelty

She's done a wonderful job, and even gotten some press.
But...
at this point, her blog is starting to seem like death porn. It's all about the horrific conditions and excoriating blasts and vicious emails to the Mayor and the shelter director. Kind of smug, superior and self-congratulatory.
Like most no kill zealots (well, zealots on any issue), the commenters over there just can't conceive that they can't FORCE their will on people whose minds are set in a completely different direction through personal attacks and vilification.
I've posted some unwelcome comments ('cause you know me...)... but the real issue is how CAN the people of Memphis effectuate the change that must happen?
It won't be by emails, and it seems easy now for the director and the mayor to ignore complaints as the ravings of people who "just don't understand" the "reality" in Memphis (the reality in the minds of the director/Mayor who are stuck on the perceived need to kill animals because of their perception that the people of Memphis are irresponsible and uncaring).
If you lived in Memphis, what would you do???
