An old friend that I hadn't heard from in ages called me on the phone a couple weeks ago. He took in a stray about six months ago, but has to move where she's not allowed. It's a long story, but not the point. Being a sucker, I agreed to help find her a home. I've got a couple good leads via friends of friends. Better yet, my brother is interested and coming to visit soon. Until then, she'll be staying with us. She's visiting our house tonight, and probably coming to stay starting this weekend. I've been brushing up on fostering info, dog intros, etc., and getting things ready at the house. She's very cool with dogs. I'm not sure about cats, but necessary precautions will be taken. I feel ready, so stay tuned for more. Hopefully I'll get some glamour shots this weekend. Until then, feast your eyes on this sweet face! Poca spent her first night with us last night. The visit the night before went really well. We started off with a long walk with all three. Poca needs some leash manners, but otherwise she was great. The three dogs were showing play signs right away, so we tried a little time off leash in the yard. No signs of aggression. No huffing and puffing. Lots of grinning and clowning around with each other. We kept it short, and this morning went equally well. Everyone is sleeping it off now, and it's quiet. I think these short interactions are good. Eko and Dottie think I brought them a present.  foster dog poca by mr-haze, on Flickr I have to mention that while typing this, I got a text from my neighbor that said, come see this stray pit bull. Turns out someone's (intact) male am bulldog got loose. They called animal control, and have him in a kennel barking his fool head off. Can someone please uninstall the bulldog magnet?? |
