Update 3:43 pst: Just in - Reba's Pibble Rescue WAS slated to get this dog, but they are no longer. Another rescue stepped up that is closer. That name has not yet been provided to me.
Please continue to share this amazing dog's story - a testament to the beautiful spirit so many of these dogs possess.
Brantford, Ontario - A miracle happened for Kalena Mallon on July 23.
Mallon, who suffers from a rare heart condition, passed out on a busy roadway just three houses down from her home.
Bystanders didn't rush to the ailing woman's side, but a dog did - a Pit bull mysteriously appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.
The dog, whom Mallon is calling Faith, rushed to the middle of the busy roadway and stood over the unconscious woman, barking at cars that threatened to hit her.
The honking of horns outside alerted Mallon's husband to a problem outside. When he spotted his wife lying in the road, he rushed to carry her home.
Mallon's guardian angel followed the couple back to their home.
Thankfully, Kalena Mallon's medications worked quickly, and she survived.
Kalena's husband went door to door to see who owned the life-saving Pit bull, but no one knew who she was.
Unfortunately in Ontario, there are stiff penalties for owning a Pit bull.
Not knowing what to do, the couple called the SPCA, who in turn, referrred them to the local police.
While they waited for authorities, Kalena snuggled on the couch with her hero - the young dog met Kalena's cat and two dogs and exhibited nothing but friendliness (and a touch of fear when the scary cat took a swipe at her).
When an officer arrived to get Faitih, he was greeted with a full-on attack...involving lots of tongue, furiously wagging tail and wiggles.
The officer seemed captivated by the gentle pup. He gently led her away to his patrol car as Mallon tearfully watched her hero leave.
