Heartbroken Peter in NJ (this is so sad)

Peter was tied up outside a kill shelter in NJ in 2007. He spent several months there before a local rescue group stepped in and saved him from being euthanized due to space. He spent the next 2 years waiting for a home. FINALLY, a wonderful family adopted him. They were perfect for Peter.. they had no other pets (he needs to be the only pet in the home), a fenced yard and two young children (pictures attached) that Peter absolutely adored. Unfortunately, due to personal struggles, the family had to give Peter up and he was sent back to the shelter at the beginning of May. He is slowly re-adjusting to shelter life, but I can tell he misses his family tremendously. He whimpers when he sees or hears small children and I wish more than anything I could take his pain away. The best I can do for him because I have other dogs is to spread the word about him. He is 5 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccines, housebroken, well behaved in the house (does not chew/destroy things), loves all humans, and is great with children. He passed 3 levels of Basic Obedience at Pawsitive Experience in Rockaway.

How terribly sad. He is such a beautiful boy and seems so sweet. I really hope he can find a new place to call home.

Of course I don't know the full story, but I wonder why he was returned to the shelter and not the rescue... ??? Doesn't sound like a very responsible rescue...but again, what do I know...

Poor dog though...and 5 years old too. So hard to place those "middle-agers".

NOT trying to bash anyone but let's just say....... 11th Hour doesn't have the best reputation. I've....heard things.

I don't know anything really about any of the East Coast rescues, but I've heard of them. They're one of those groups that pulls in mass amounts and places in a day, right?

Yup. Their turnover rate is ridiculous. I know someone who was fostering for them on a regular basis and if they had a foster for a month, that was a long time. Often Pit Bulls, too.
