Well, we're onto our 3rd or 4th harness with Saxon. We had a Yuppy Puppy that Saxon ate. Then we got the Lupine step in harness that matches Saxon's collar and leash, but it did nothing to curb his pulling. So I got an Easy Walk harness when I started working at Planet Dog. It worked really well to prevent his pulling, but it cut into his chest: So I exchanged it for the Sporn Halter: It's working really well so far and it has padded straps to keep it from rubbing. Has anyone ever heard of this harness? Is it any good?

I had a similar one for Mav. The padding definitely helped!

Rocky got bruised from those clips on the front. I only used it a little bit. Gave it to my mom. You really should just buy a sensation harness. What I have done is taken those pads off the type of harness you have and put them on the straps under the legs or I use mole skin that you buy in drug store it is found in foot care dept. it sticks on and stays on for a while. This you can do with the harness you have as well. I love the sensible or sensation because for 5.00 they will adjust size as needed. The other one is the freedom which RPB gets donation for purchase when you buy if you mention name. That one has a velvet strap on the belly and under pits. It also will fit saxxon even if he grows. The Large is very very adjustable. Can be adjusted to fit a dog as small as 40lbs. Rocky is about 65lbs and he has room. I know that Sedona has one. Not sure which size but she is a small dog. It is warranty from chew for life. So far personally I think I prefer the sensation but I have not decided. I like the fact that the freedom has a front and a back clip. I almost always only use the front and the freedom was not really designed to use front clip only. Anyway those two have the best fit for these types of dogs. The easy walk is good too but just does not fit the breed right. If you call up the sensation people they will go over measurement with you and add material to the chest if needed for 5.00 however the Freedom has a way of adjusting to fit no need to add. If you want RPB to get funds have to order from here only this store is owned by the designer of the harness She actually lives in my town. www.usadogshop.com/ sensation or sensible harness here. www.softouchconcepts.com/ I own them all and the one in your photo is my least favorite. has worn Rocky raw on chest leaving bruising and under the arm pits. I would take it back and order one or both of these harness.

A lot of people swear by the Sporn, but I've never used it. I use the Sensation harness. They will customize it to fit your dog. Maybe Dave can comment on the Freedom harness as well, since he uses it on little Freight Train (aka Sedona). Regardless of what harness you use, the training that takes place while the dog is in it is what matters.

I also use the sensation and I have had no problems with rubbing or chafing of any sort.

Rocky has had rubbing even with the sensible harness but it was during very hot weather and long walks. But like I said mole skin worked. I am not sure if the sensation would ever have caused rubbing because I had the sensible first and then put mole skin on the sensation as soon as I got it. Like Mary said none of them will stop dog from Pulling. But I find it easier on my back as the front clip type take the power of pull out. My mom is using the Freedom on her little girl and she likes it for her. I do not care for the multi leash thing too much but that's me. Although when I first tried it, it seemed to work well.

I haven't had any problems so far. I got both the Easy Walk and the Sporn because of my discount at the store. If the sporn doesn't work out, I'll try the Sensation or Freedom.

I personally prefer the Easy Walk. It fit Rocky as a pup but after he hit 2 his chest was too big for a large and his belly area too small for an extra large.

Tim likes the Easy Walk better as well. He think's it's easier to put on than the Sporn (which it is). It worked really well, but I was really upset to see the cut on him. Is the mole skin that you keep talking about literally mole's skin? I don't know it I want to buy a dead mole's skin for my dog's harness... Maybe I could get some fleecey fabric instead.

No it is not actually mole skin. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MoleskinThe Dr. Scholls pads are made of heavy woven fleece or cotton. The easy walk did same thing to Rocky he had cuts under his pits rubbed pretty raw.

Neat, thanks Carolann! I may go back to the Easy Walk if Tim complains enough.

You are going to end up with a collection of harnesses like Me. Guess its those spotted belly pups who are so sensitive.

I already have my reflective one from Finland for night time and the Lupine one that matches his collar and leash. Now I guess I'm just trying to find the right no-pull tool!

Haha!! Would be cheaper than 40 different harnesses! I really should work with him more. I'm going to get some good treats tomorrow for training and then I'll start to really work with him.

I'm going to have to break down and get a freedom/sensible harness for Rhett I think. Walks freak him out so he does a pancake/craw/pull thing. I have not pushed him or really worked with him on it. Mainly because we had bigger fish to fry, but he's doing pretty good these days so it's about time to face it. Just going from the house to the car is a HUGE task.

Freedom vs Sensation or sensible- The freedom is a good choice if you have a few dogs of different sizes because of its ability to adjust. Chew warranty. The training leash is just about free and converts into a regular longer leash. front clip and back clip with martingale. RPB gets funds if you buy from USA DOG. The best part is the velvet strap on belly which is reason I purchased the harness I did not need this harness as I also have a sensible and a sensation harness. But they both still rub and I have to add moleskin to them. Sensation and sensation- Are made by softouchconcepts as dog grows they will adjust harness for 5.00 same goes for damage. Both are much the same. One has plastic and one has metal hardware. sensation has belly strap with less irritating material. However I still need to add mole skin to either one of them or Rocky gets red. I have been going back and forth using the different harness. Rocky does not pull any more in one or the other except for if I use the back clip only on the Freedom. I find Rocky has the ability to pull harder than if I have it clipped on the front only. Rocky does this stop dead in his tracks thing and I cant get him to move forward. If I am using the Freedom and have it on his back and front then I can move him. Where the others no way is he moving I have to grab his collar and pull him. I already had a custom leash from ellas lead and an extra little thing they make with clips on both ends that I used on my sensation for busy times to clip to both his collar and the front clip. I use that to clip to front and back of the freedom. USA dog sells a training lead for the freedom which makes sense how it was designed to work with the harness. My hands just cant handle the nylon. I am going to make my own leash out of rope. I have also discussed with ellas about the type of lead I need. I just have not put in an order yet. What I have works although I think a rope type lead made the way the Freedom lead is designed would be an awesome lead. All in all the Freedom has won for Rocky because of the velvet belly strap and very adjustable straps.

i think no matter what harness you get with him having alot less fur it will probably rub on him. i noticed that with shorter fur dogs the harnesses rub more

You're probably right, ME. His collar rubs on the underside of his neck/throat, too.

he looks like the fur on those areas is alot thinner, which is maybe why its rubbing so much.. maybe try some sheepskin padding on those areas to help. i noticed the sporn harness is really thin in the straps, which might make the rubbing worse.. maybe double padding under the armpits and on the neck/throat area should help
