I'm reading Playing Dead by Julia Hearberlin. Pretty good so far. I finished The First Confessor by Terry Goodkind the other day. Loved it. It made me want more. His last book, related to the Sword of Truth series, The Omen Machine was hohum. I wasn't too enthused. But First Confessor re-affirmed my faith in the series.

Mel, did you watch the tv series? Cheesy, but I liked it.
Just finished Seawitch, latest in the Greywalker series by Kat Richardson. If you're looking for something spooky and creepy to read during the Halloween season, it's a great series.

Tim reads a lot of Richard Dawkins and likes it. I haven't gotten around to reading any of his stuff, though. Read one! Very easy reading considering the subject matter, I like the way he writes although he is a tad snarky in his style. I will definitely check out his other books. Evolutionary biology is fascinating. Now I'm reading Junky by William S. Burroughs.

sweet, I like how my phone didn't post my post! What I said was: I watched the first few episodes of The Seeker. But, the tv show deviated too far off the plot of the books that it was impossible to watch with out getting pissed. From what I gather, Terrry Goodkind wasn't that pleased with it. I've heard of Greywalker series, but I haven't looked into it. After I get through a few books I'll have to check it out. Maryellen if you like 50, you'll probably like Bared To You & Reflected In You by Sylvia Day. If you or anyone wishes to read them in ebook formay let me know.

I thought she did a good job at the detail. It wasn't as rich as her NO based books, but I think that's because the area isn't as well loved by her.

About 2/3 of the way through with Asylum by Patrick McGrath - LOVING this book. I started it last night and could not put it down. All I want to do is get home from work and finish reading this. Messed up/obsessive love story as told by the attending psychiatrist (for the criminally insane).

I'm almost finished with Taking on the Dead by Annie Walls ( www.smashwords.com/books/view/237686 ) It's the first of 3 books, the second is due out in Nov. This book is really good. It's not so much scary, not overly gory, it's still gross, but... it's disturbing. I actually feel sorry for the zombies at times.

Anyone have any good input on fantasy type books? I've finished Kevin Hearnes Iron Druid series... awesome. Looking for another one to start in on but not sure what to try.
I've already read more than I can really remember, but I love Sword of Truth series, Lord of the rings, I've started some Terry Brooks, but haven't been able to get into his books very well.

House of Leaves was a very interesting read (both content and visually, lol). I actually really liked it, there were points were I was reading alone at night and had to put it down because it made me a little uneasy lol
I'm currently reading Warm Bodies. So far its pretty cute.

I took advantage a free offer from Audible.com and downloaded Finally Free by M Vick. I'm glad I did, but I sure as hell wasn't going to PAY for it.
Just finished it this morning. While it's mostly based on his football career, it's an eye-opener in many ways. Vick is and always was a God-fearing person, and credits his accomplishments to God, and his deviant lifestyle to moving away from God. A man who loves his family above all else. Who values life, and loves pets, especially dogs. One entire chapter reveals his dog fighting career and how he had already decided to end it when he was arrested. Another covers his prison stays.
If you believe it. I kept getting the impression that he was trying to convince me of all these things. Yet, he only briefly touches on his work with HSUS and his lecturing to the young kids on staying out of trouble. I wanted to hear about Pacelle, about the lectures, about his redemption from the evils of abusing animals. He just kept coming back to football and how much money he was making, or not making, or owing, or paying back, or how much he gave away.
I'm sure much of it is genuine Vick, but even Vick writes that it's easier to put into writing a lot of things that are difficult to say. I can't say if the story is written sincerely, but I can say one can easily be swayed to believe it. Maybe the narrator has something to do with that.
But for me, once a liar, never trusted. That's how I am.

Yeah, it'd be hard to trust what he said. Let alone any other liar of that rank.
