It's been a long time since I've last fostered. My first and only prior fostering experience - a tough little terrier named Teddy - had ended in heartbreak after I made the heartwreching decision to euthanize him due to unpredictable HA towards strangers, and then myself spanning over the course of a year.
Flash forward a year and a half later. I've got a new foster. ;D Her name is Shea, or Shea Butter as a nickname (but it usually comes out as 'Shea Butta' when I'm talking her up, hehe). She's the bomb. Petite, big brown eyes, crazy ears, full APBT as far as I can tell. She's a shy little thing, which made me worried at first - but she has never shown an ounce of aggression.
Her previous owner was chaining her out as a "guard dog". Somehow Shea and the two other dogs in the house ended up at AC, and the owner reclaimed the two others and left Shea.
She has come a LONG way since she was first rescued. Apparently, if you even looked her in the eye, she'd make a puddle. Now, she's Miss Wigglebutt, doing zoomies out in the yard, "bully stomps" in the house and grinning when she gets amped up. She's super soft, biddable, and LOVES to cuddle. She's still a little timid when meeting new people, but opens up with baby talk. And speaking of 'babies' - she is GREAT with kids/toddlers, even as young as 1 year old.
She ignores my roommate's cat, although I feel like her ideal home would be a cat-free zone. I haven't personally tested her with male dogs yet, but I know she isn't great with females (plus we follow the COE anyway). She has a little separation anxiety but stops barking after 5-10 minutes, nothing major (and I still need to invest in a Kong...).
I haven't gotten any (good) pictures of her yet - dark dogs are HARD to photograph inside with a crappy camera - but here are some early shots of her.
Yup, she's darn cute. So, if anyone knows of anyone in IL/IN looking, send them my way
