DBMB's vet is 3 hours away in Illinois, I'm in Indiana. I'd rather not drive 3 hours out for it, you know? Plus, they also want to do a bunch of tests to make sure it's not a medical issue.
I do think I have good news though, I contacted an old friend of mine who is a vet and works at a clinic about an hour away. It seems like he'll be able to do the euth in-home and waive the travel fee for me. It'd be great to have it done at home rather than in a strange clinic.

alot of vets wont do a euth for HA.. they are all old school and tree huggers who feel the dog should only be euthed for medical terminal issues. i have only one vet here who will euth for HA the others would rehome a HA dog thinking a house with no kids or an island is a good home

Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this too. I've worried about that too...if I were ever in the situation of having to euth for temperament issues...would my vet do it? Especially if the dog seems "fine" to the vet staff, I've had friends who have left vet practices because of it. I hope you can find a someone to help you out.

It's confirmed, tomorrow night is the night. She's going to have the crap spoiled out of her tonight and tomorrow. She's still soooo wonderful with me. This decision is breaking my heart.

She's gone. Karla.......big hugs to you. You did the right thing, we all stand behind you, and you are SO brave for doing what was best. I know in your heart you know what you did was right, it just is going to frickin SUCK for the time being. It takes the biggest heart to make the most difficult yet correct decision. |
