It is not easy to overlook Teddy's severely cropped ears, but his signature smile just lights up the room! This 2 year-old American bulldog/pitbull mix simply wants to have FUN!!! He sits and downs on command, accepting a tasty treat with extreme tenderness. It is almost impossible to prevent him from rolling over to invite a tummy rub!!
It's also very easy to see that Teddy has had such an awful life before coming into our home for foster-care. His ears were cruelly cropped and from the scars around his neck, he may have been tethered by his previous human. He shows many bite marks all over his jaws and neck area and not to mention that he has some bald spots presumably from too much stress and months in the shelter. Teddy has been on the "put to sleep" list for months but he's always been spared for one reason or another. His foot pads are very pink and tender the first time we took him out for a walk, the poor boy probably have never gone on an enjoyable walk in this life.
He caught my attention every time my husband and I visited the Newark Animal Shelter. He wiggled his but and tail to no end, showed me his belly, and cheerfully greeted me with those bright eyes and big smile.
A few days of staying in our home and he's already shown some improvements - he's even walked off leash during our walks in the woods and reservations to our big surprise.
Teddy is truly people focused. He loves the constant attention he gets from his human and cannot get enough of hugs, kisses, and belly rubs we give him.
This wonderful canine companion needs a lot of exercise so if you're one who is active, loves to go for walks, jogs, hikes - Teddy is the dog for you. He loves to play fetch and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, to swim. He took to the ocean and swam like a champ on the first day we took him swimming. He will do well in a family with adult kids, no cats, as a single pet/or with another dog his size.
Teddy is neutered and potty-trained, has no food aggression, great in the car, and learning a few commands since he came to our home.
If you are a fan of the bully breeds and want to give this young man a second chance at life, please contact us - we'd love to hear from you!
Please watch this super adorable videos of Tedd getting a belly rub in the water:
and a video of him getting a bath:
♥♥♥ Please help us save another dog by giving Teddy a loving, forever home. ♥♥♥
