Just saw a link to this rescue's facebook page. It's the first time I've seen anyone say Cane Corso and Presa Canario before American Pit Bull Terrier their description of a Pit Bull. Really makes you wonder what experience they actually have with the fighting dogs that they intend to rehabilitate… A Fighting Chance www.facebook.com/pages/A-Fighting-Chance/156739291042622?sk=wallFounded January 1, 2011 Location PO BOX 927, Levittown, PA 19058 About Please contact us at: Jess 609-815-4515 Sarah 267-306-7749 Company Overview A Rescue that works primarily with Doberman Pinschers and Pitbulls (including but not limited to Cane Corso, Presa Canario, Staffordshire terriers and American Pitbull terriers) Description Finding Forever Homes for Pit bull terriers and Doberman Pinschers in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York Areas General Information Some people say don't judge a book by it's cover.. we say don't judge a dog by the stereotypes of it's breed! Did you see their most recent status? A Fighting Chance We would like to clear something up do to a recent post that we have taken down. In our description we have written that we rescue "Doberman Pinschers and Pitbulls (including but not limited to Cane Corso, Presa Canario, Staffordshire terriers and American Pitbull terriers)" - we did not mean to detract from the Pitbull breed- but did have limited amount of character to have a description. MORE BELOW Like · · Share · 2 hours ago 4 people like this. A Fighting Chance Knowing that most dogs that are in shelters that even look like pits are labeled so- we wanted to make sure we correctly labeled all dogs that are considered Pitbull type breeds. We were hoping that was the point conveyed. As we have shown in the past not matter the breed or species if it has a pulse it deserved to be saved! 2 hours ago · Like · 3 people A Fighting Chance But please we ask all those with an inquiring mind to please direct any questions or problems to our email address. As our facebook is meant to advocate for these amazing animals not to answer menial issues - it detracts from our goal and will not be tolerated. Thank you and hope you will continue to help animals large and small!

^I have no idea what that says. Ditto. I don't understand how wanting to correctly identify and understand the breed has become equated with not caring about saving all types of dogs. The whole mess reminds me of some of our nonprofit's board members or volunteers. People with good intentions and big hearts, but who are really in it for the drama and emotion. I have literally had people crying at me, "I just want to help all the precious babies." Human babies, btw. They don't want to hear about our background checks, they don't care about following our policies and procedures, they don't understand that what we do requires a lot of training and education. They just want the emotional high. And I see A LOT of that in rescue. The difference is that we have laws and oversight that guide the practices at the social services agency where I work.

Mary, why don't you invite her here to learn more about the apbt, it could be a chance to actually help reach more people, explain the damage that is happening by lumping all those breeds under an incorrect label does. Can't hurt to try right?

Can't hurt to try right? Absolutely. I think I'm just a little head shy with the whole "reaching out" angle when it comes to specific orgs. Been burned in the past for trying to "help" or network. These days my organization-to-organization outreach work is less direct. Btw anyone here is always welcome to invite others to join. So if you think someone could benefit from the forum, just send 'em on over!

Not this time! I almost did, but didn't feel like dealing with the response. I'm already going bald from posts with AFF. That's why I posted it here, so someone else could do it.
